I recently acquired a cabinet style humi that holds at least 1000 cigars. That leaves me with 3 desktop humidors that i don't really need. Since I only have about 200 cigars, that leaves plenty o' room in the humi. I'm willing to trade any or all of the desktops for boxes of cigars. They range from 75-200 capacity. all 3 have digital hygrometers and Paradigm humidifiers. I like a wide range of cigars medium-full bodied--maduro, cameroon, etc. I could keep 'em and display 'em like I'm doing now, but they're empty. Maybe somebody can put 'em to good use. On the subject of Rookie's brief threadjack, the cabinet humi that jazzman has got is one I'm quite familiar with and is of two that I've been considering ... it's an exceptionally nice unit ...

So what types are you interested in. I might be interested in one that is already broke in like that.

wbslngr -- a humidor is never 'broke in'. All it does is hold cigars ...

... the 'breaking in' will have to start all over again with you when you get it (sounds like they have not been in use, and are probably dried out), and that's just seasoning it and getting it juiced up to hold your cigars.

Hey Slim, what about a wooden cigar box you get from the cigar store. If it is empty and they give it to you will it be able to have cigars put straight into it and something to add humidity.

No ... ANY humidor should be charged before using it ... the reason is, that the wood itself will absorb moisture from the humidifier ... not only will the wood take what it needs before the cigars get any, it will take the moisture FROM the cigars themselves ...

Wiping the inside of the box with a clean sponge that has been dampened with distilled water (or adding a container of steaming water to the box) are shortcut methods of charging the unit ... your best course of action is to put an open container of distilled water into the box and let it sit undisturbed for at least a week ... the wood will be able to slowly absorb all the moisture it needs to become fully charged and function properly ...

You COULD take a wooden box from a cigar store, and using a clean sponge, wipe the interior with some distilled water and add a humidifier ... that WILL work to keep your 'gars while you get your humidor up to speed ... fact is, you can use almost ANYthing on a temp basis as long as humidity is maintained ... the cedar serves to make it easier to maintain the humidity on a stable basis ...
