Gomez Addams - Eccentric millionaire Gomez Addams on the sitcom THE ADDAMS FAMILY/ABC/1964-66 often had a lit cigar in his hand as he wandered about his bizarre gothic mansion. He kept his Garcia y Vega cigars in a cigar store Indian statue that rested in his museum-like living room. When Gomez pulled the cigars from his unique holder, they were already lit. At times, Gomez lit his cigars by striking a match on his Butler's body or igniting it with a flame thrower. Gomez's wife, Morticia (Carolyn Jones), also enjoyed a good smoke. Except in her case, when she smoked, her entire body emitted a milky, misty cloud of vapor.

Al Lewis

Field: Entertainment

Info: Played Grandpa Munster on the TV series "The Munsters", also appeared in the TV series "Car 54, Where Are You?"

Note: There is some substantial amount of debate as to the true year of birth for Al Lewis. Some sources say 1910, some say 1923. According to an interview with his family members, the 1910 date is a "story" and the real date is 1923. (If anyone has his birth certificate, send it along.)

Date of Birth:

Current Age: 04/30/1923

He is a big time Yankees fan! Catch some of the reruns of Car 54 Where Are You and he plays the sports fanatic cop on the show!

Dang, you guys scared me. Usually when these pop up, it's because of the celebs passing. Funny Charlie mentions Al's predilection for horse racing. When I met him (many years ago), it was at Longacres race track. He was smoking a big cigar, and making a big show of losing his bets. Unfortunately, I didn't have anything to sign. By the time I got back with my program, the crowd around him was huge.

Used to see him once in a while at Santa Anita and Hollywood Park...always laughing, always with a cigar and always with a gallery wanting to know "who do you like"...he would laugh, puff on the cigar and say, "you don't want to bet on the horses I pick"!

The race tracks in So Cal are always full of celebs, if you know where to look!
