Thanks for the reply Jet. I worked for Northwest Airlines for 9 years and I quit in August. I needed a career change. I wasn't happy where NWA was leading me and I bailed out at the right time. They filed for bankruptcy since my departure. Plus they shut down the cargo facility over in JFK so now about 36 guys with '89 senority are going to have to bump if they don't want the lay off. Plus there are talks about outsourcing the gateway stations. What sucks about that is, let's say one of these rent-a-company (Signature) takes over, the employees that are being displaced lose bumping rights. Can you believe that crap!!?? Outsourcing won't affect the hub stations. NWA is due for a new contract and I can't believe what they are taking away. Holidays, sick pay, vacation, etc. I'm just glad i'm out of there. It was fun while it lasted.

It's not just NWA . . . All the "legacy" airlines are doing it . . . It's disgusting what is happening to the American Worker. I have taken a 19% paycut, not including all the benefit changes . . We are Now having to Pay to Fly (!?!) I am wondering where I should be looking for employment . . . After 22 yrs in the industry and a lifelong non-rev (my dad was with the Air Lines, too) . . . it is a difficult desicion.

This industry is self-destructing . . .
