My girlfriend and I went to Great Adventure on Sunday. Our first stop, Kingda Ka. This thing is ridiculous, and I recommend it to anyone without a weak heart...

A hydraulic launch rockets riders horizontally from 0 to 128 mph in 3.5 seconds, then vertically 90 degrees into a quarter turn. Riders crest the coaster's tower an exhilarating 458 feet from the ground, then plunge vertically into a 270-degree (three-quarter) spiral.

The train swoops down a valley and climbs a 129-foot "camel hump" hill, leaving riders feeling weightless before making a left turn and gliding back into the station.523481.jpg

I'm waiting for them to fix it before I go on it. I hear it seems to break down daily. I guess that's part of thrill.

Nice! I'd take my wife tomorrow if she wasn't pregnant with our first. Man, that looks sweet!

It didn't break down once while I was there. However, there are times when you won't make it over the hump, causing you to fall back down backwards. Then they just launch you again and again until you make it all the way over 🙂 It's a blast.

Big story here in Washington DC area is the proposed purchase of Six Flags Corporation by Daniel Snyder, owner of the Washington Redskins, and known to most in the mdeia as "Danny Boy". Snyder would bring in Mark Shaprio the programming guru from ESPN to do a big makeover. Snyder already owns a small portion of Six Flags, and there is a Six Flags park only about 2 miles from FedEx Field, home of the Redskins. Because Snyder owns both the Redskins franchise as well as the stadium they play in (most sports frachises do not) they estimate the value of the frachise at $1.5 Billion.

All, post if you're planning on coming to joisey. There are a few BOTLs within 1/2 hour from the park!

Steve, think about having a cigar event at an amusement park! The increase cost would be worth it IF the weather's right.
