I went to see Jarhead opening night Friday. I thought it was a well done movie. I felt myself really relating to the mentality of the film and the things the guys went through. As for my wife I think she found a little better understanding of me during the viewing. Has anyone else seen it? What's your opinion?

I'm not going to see it. Check out the book reviews on amazon.com for my reasons.

Here's a review I read about Jarhead:

Seems interesting. I will likely wait for it to come out on DVD.

DVD for me as well...

Sounds like a good movie though?

I've been watching "Shootout" on discovery times on Sundays... damn good footage done on the Marines and the Fight for Falujia, and some of the other battles in Afganistan

Caught some of the Shootout episodes yesterday! Damn good! And as to the review on DrPePs link, I've seen some of that too!

I listened to Jarhead on audiobook. Its 85% anxiety and build up to an anticlimax. It really didn't deliver.

My guess would be that Hollywood would butcher it, so I'll probably avoid it.

I almost barfed at the friggin' previews and i'm a squid.

My brutha Mike (former Marine) agrees with me. We discussed it VERY briefly yesterday.

Too bad my dad is too messed-up to do any writing... his stories are great to listen too when he tells them. He was a Sea Bee over in country.

He admits it was the greatest time of his life...
