Why are toilets made out of porsilyn? Is there no other material to make a toilet bowl? I believe that's the only thing I own that is porsilyn.

Ummmmm, it's easy to keep sanitary because it's non-porous? I saw a pretty neat self-cleaning public toilet in Paris that was stainless steel. Damn thing flipped up and lowered into the floor for a high powered steam cleaning and popped back up shiny and new.

Because porcelain is probably cheaper and easier to manufacture (mold) and clean.

It also doesn't deteriorate (or corrode) like plastic, wood, and metal and it adjusts better to ass temperature.

What the heck do I know?

Ask the Mancesa people.

As a side point, I once replaced one of my wooden toilet seats with a plastic version, and I felt like a I was riding a trolley, it shifted so much.

Because it doesn't sound right when someone says, "praying to the plastic gods."
