LMAO @ the Slammer Analogy . . . Thanks for the cool story, pablo. Hope you didn't have too many stitches and still have full function . . . I thought that Black's were common in your area.

I Have a nice scar on my knee, still, from when a former r/m and fishing partner in Miami tossed Kingfish from the back of the boat to the bow where I was holding open the fishbox. The fish glanced off the gunnel and then his open mouth glanced off of my knee on his way into the boat . . . Perfect little razor cuts all in a nice pattern !

I'm being serious. I would MUCH rather have a gaff scar or a king bite than a tatoo.

I sliced my finger tying a bimini twist in spectra, but that is not too bad.

I DO have a fish story that involved some injury. My dad and I were fishing Presque Isle Bay for smallies and I hooked a Northern Pike......nice size, maybe a couple feet long.

We net this thing and I begin the task of getting the dual-treble hooked plug out of his mouth and the net. Its a REAL mess because he did about three twists in the net.

So I have my hand right down by this little brute's choppers and he jumps, embedding one of the barbed hooks STRAIGHT into my thumb, right beside the fingernail........down to bone.

SO now there is a two foot pissed off fish with sharp teeth tangled in a net attached to my thumb via a large painful hook...........and he is JUMPING like crazy. I figure he is gonna rip my thumb apart, but my Dad leapt over the bench seat and grabbed the fish.

OK...............stabilized. I look things ovr and figure there is NO WAY that I am going to be able to untangle the fish/net/plug mess, especially with one hand. My dad has a deathgrip on this fish, holding him upside down with his thumbs dug in to the gills......if he lets go, this **** will start jumping again.

I start to try to "work" the hook out of my thumb, but it is IN THERE.....deep. I consider pushing it through to snip the barb off, but I cant push it through my thumb bone....which is where it is currently lodged.

I stop and take a breath and realize that the boat is drifting surely towards a rock jetty.......it will capsize unless I ;

1) Get separated from this mess

or

2) Allow my dad to relinguish his grip on the fish and start the boat motor and push out out of harms way.

I opt for (1).

I grabbed a pair of pliers and pulled the hook straight back HARD.......nothing but pain.

Again, I try............the plier slip of the hook (ouch).

One last attempt. I summon all my strength and balls, and grip the pliers AS TIGHT as I could and pulled AS HARD as I could for about 3 seconds.

RIPPPPPPPPP.......out comes the hook, out sprays the blood................out comes a beer as we motor into the sunset.

Needless to say, I did NOT release the fish...........we made him into sammiches.

BTW jet.........check out that link I posted in MISC.
