schecky , I'd have a talk with your nephew. Get your money back and never use that source again.

There are 3 marques that released Edicion Limitadas in 2005. The RyJ Petit Piramide, the H Upmann Magnum 50 and the Montecristo Dalia. Cohiba was NOT one of them.

Take a close look at the EL band. The font, as sli38 suggested, is wrong, the gold is of the wrong consistency and the band lacks embossing.

It may taste good, but it's definitely not what you (or your nephew) paid for. I have no idea what you plan on doing about the local shop owner, but good luck on making it right with him.

Hey Schecky.....as long as you like em & they taste real. That's all that matters! I find it rather annoying how everybody has to be so scientific about it. I'm sure some people are trying to be helpful but some are probably just jealous. Enjoy em! Happy Holidays!

I think most of the people who are passing along the info that they are fake are just trying to make sure a BOTL doesn't get ripped off.

If I spent close to $600 for a box of cigars, I would want to make sure they were real. Whoever your source is, I wouldn't use them again. Cohiba didn't release any EL's in 2005, that's a dead give away that they are fake. In fact, you should see if you can get your money back by disputing the charge with your credit card company (assuming you used a credit card).

Sorry for the bad news, but we BOTLs have to look out for each other.

jcw,

I don't think I'd bring attention to the fact that I was illegally purchasing cigars by disputing the purchase with my credit card company....

Yeah, I'd be pretty pissed at being "duped" by whoever it was that did it.

Ya' really gotta know who's selling them to you enough to trust them.

i agree with the guys here. these are fakes. there's alot wrong with both bands. too much to be a coincidence.

i also agree with moonman. if ya like em, smoke em. i just wouldn't distribute any more.

Thanks for all the help. Win some loose some but it's nice to know you are all out there to help. No hard fellings and once again thanks to everyone.

Just because a cigar is not legit doesn't mean it can't be good. I've had plenty of counterfeits over the past few years, and many times, the fake was better than the real thing. Especially with Cohibas, a spotty brand at best, in my opinion. Never had a Sublime, though. Just Siglos and standard Cohibas.

I agree with Steve....my first counterfiet was the ole Esplendidos in the glass box a friend gave me...the whole box that is....and they were good.
