Christmas was nice but now it's time to by my wife and I our serious present and this year it's a computer. We have been limping along with this old Gateway G6-350 for eons and it's past due.

We are looking at the Dell Dimension E-510. I tweaked the video card and the processor so it comes to $699 plus tax.

I'm open to suggestions at this point. Lots I don't know about what's out there. The price point is important, can't go much over $700 and want something that will have nominal graphics and gaming potential at least.

Thanks.

Working in the computer department at my bank, I get asked quite frequently about where one can buy a reasonable computer. I like to point them to dealsofamerica dot com, and dealcatcher dot com. These sites list all the specials offered over the internet. Dell always has some sale going on.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/  and could not be happier. I went with the Systemax brand. I've had it for 3+ years.

I've also used Tiger Direct before. I was happy with that computer.

I bought a Dell this year. I got mine while they were giving the flat panel monitor upgrade and printer for free. I paid $550 for what would have normally been around $700.

I've seen the same deal on and off since then.

I suggest you biuld your own. For 700 bucks you can get a kick ass tower. But if you need a monitor too, can't go wrong with dell.

www.slickdeals.net

www.fatwallet.com / for deals.

go to the forum section then to hot deals. sometimes you can get a really good deal.

Also www.woot.com has computers sometimes and everything is 5 bucks shipping

I've spec'd Dells for the office for the last four years.

The only problem I have had is a few power supplies and two CDRW drives crapped the bed.

Oh yeah....the floppy disc drives NEVER worked well.

Other than that, I'm pretty happy with them.
