I hear you.....

Here's my view:

I do agree to the TRUTH that what you mention above is found throughout the scriptures. I do NOT however agree with it as TRUTH.....at least not to ALL people. Truth in the scriptures is purely based upon faith and cannot be imposed as absolute. It may or may not be true, and one day we'll either find out or we won't.....that's still to be determined.

When I call the Bible and it's contents the absolute TRUTH, I am discounting the faiths and "truths" of the entire rest of the people in the entire world that follow a different viewpoint or religion than mine.

I therefore consider faith a pretty strong arguing point, however I will NEVER refer to it as the "truth," because that's pretty darn selfish to the to the others that I may be talking with. If I say "I'm right" and "they are wrong" simply because I follow one faith and they follow another, then I quickly become someone they don't want to talk to......because of my vanity. Not faith, but vanity.

A good honest reply. Thanks.

You know, I've come to believe you and I could enjoy a smoke, tea and discussion, without bloodshed, and that we'd actually enjoy it. Peace to you brother. Tuck

Hey tuck. You have an email I can send to? I'd rather not start a public fight from an honest to goodness question I have.

It's actually a literal Bible question, if that's OK. Something that has always confused me.

cexsun,

Why don't you just go ahead and post it here, that way you can benefit from not only ONE person's translation and viewpoint, but possibly many people's. From there, you take the information you were given, and since it is ALL hypothesis in the first place (The Bible can NEVER be proven), you make your own best decision based upon many trains of thought and feeling.

That's what I'd do anyway....but then again, I ask questions and seek answers.

Give it a go.
