Tried my first one of these last night. I beleive it was a maduro. It was wrapped in cedar. Great cigar.
Should I have taken the cedar off before smoking?

I have read many postings that indicate cedar is supposed to enhance the flavor of cigars. Thus, it seems to me that you are supposed to leave the cedar on the cigar while smoking. I suspect it leads to a nice even burn.

Sheesh. What a silly question. Duh!

Best effects if smoked at night. The cedar adds a nice warm glow.

huskey --- your are correct. The Anejo is only made with a maduro wrapper, the origianl release was aged for 7 years in empty cognac casks.

... the newer releases are only aged one year.

Having smoked 1st year and 2nd year release Anejo's,there is a difference. You can't taste Cognac in them, but you can taste the influence of being aged in the Cognac barrels. X

I hate when that happens Clark. It took me 2 years to collect my second Untold Sory after a similar experience. Now I always buy 2.

I have heard people compare the anejo to an OpusX. Sorry i found it's Start to be nice with a blend of cedar and pepper but half way through if you can keep it lit it taste as if it were finnishing. Need i say that the finnish was much worse. A harsh finnish reminiscent of beach tar. My God this is no Opus X.

... just because SOME people compare Anejo's to an OpusX, doesn't mean that the are anything alike.

... two completely different blends of leaves and wrappers.
