Search and Rescue Swimmer from the USS John L Hall clears away a mass of coagulated netting and line on an entangled sea turtle as shipmates assist in holding the sea turtle steady.

See, the US Navy isn't really that bad.

Tarheel, I think I told you that when my son was in the Navy, he was a SAR swimmer on the carrier Independence (and after it was mothballed, on the Kitty Hawk) ... dunno that he ever rescued a sea turtle though ... I'll have to ask him ... he "resuced" a pretty gal on the beach in Perth Australia once, but I think that was an altogether different sort of rescue ...

I'm kind of suprised some members didn't post complaints on how the Navy should be doing their jobs differently.

That is not an uncommon sight. The Navy has been well known to take part in marine conservation. (Or was that Marine conversation).
