In fact, I don't think he trades much online any more.

He's like the Godfather - people come to him with deals, just to get his blessing!

i realize that slim...i just wonder why a guy who does not show up all that often throws out a question on a guy who does frequent the place.

i mean, van made a thread warning of pepsiman/gamelover, so he is obviously in the know. and i would suppose YOU know him, so i wondered why he did not secretly email his friends about sli.

let's say i traded with sli, but know have no relationship with van, why should he take my word for it?

in retrospect, it could seem like i was trolling for gossip, but that wasn't the case. and YOU of all people should slim slap a guy asking a question on the TRADE board! was there ANY info on a trade? you are slim slippin'!

You may not know him, but Van55 has been around the cigar forums for more years than I even know ... and is a well respected BOTL, who is also a moderator on another well known cigar fourm (and maybe even more).

He must have had his reasons for this simple request ... as he would not do this to 'troll' for gossip.

All he did was ask for comments 'emailed to him' of those who have traded with sli38. Why would anyone lie? If they are all good ... then sli38 has nothing to concern himself with. I've never traded with sli38, but have heard nothing but good comments about him from those who have. For me to post a comment, or email Van55 about sli38 would be nothing but hearsay ... and would be unsubstantiated.

Emailing just his friends in private would obviously not get the 'big picture' he was seeking from the hundreds (thousands?) of folks who frequent this site .... and those who have actually traded with sli38.

See ... even sli38 understands what it's all about ... 😉

Thanks for the input. sli38 offered up a very attractive trade on another board and I was just seeking some references on him. No negative implications were intended, and I am sorry if anyone misread my question.

sli38, you have earned some good friends and lots of respect. I am sure that will translate well to the Syndicate.
