This photo was taken at the facility of one of our grower/supplier's. This board is posted in the fermentation warehouse. Essentially, it is a detail of every "pilon" (translated: 'pile') of tobacco that is fermenting in the warehouse at the time.

The first column is the date that the pilon was brought in from the curing barn. The second column shows the date it was last 'turned' (when the pilon is relocated and restacked in order to allow even fermentation of the entire pilon). The third column is the pilon number/location. The fourth column is the type of tobacco (for example, Criollo). You will see that in the last four columns there are large numbers ranging from 90+ to 100+; these are the actual temperatures of each pilon - temps are taken often and when the number is encircled by a square, that shows the max temp that pilon should reach - they will take the temp to a certain level/degree depending upon what they want to do with that particular tobacco (for example, they will ferment ligero leaf longer and to a higher temp as it is a more sturdier and thicker leaf and will allow longer fermentation).

Interesting, no?

I've been to Honduras a couple times. Not for very long. My first impression was the awesome descent into Tegucigalpa airport courtesy of Lacsa Airlines. Machine gun carrying guards everywhere. The Honduran Air force bace (consisting of fully armed Cessna A36 mini jets).
The country was very....Central American. Hard to put a label on it.
I am sure you have the time of your life there.
Are the prices still phenominal? I remember buying several rounds of drinks and bocas for a group of about 12 people (as a thank you gesture) and had a whopping bill of about $35 (in 1989).

Lucky man you are. If you are single...even luckier.
