I have bought some cigars that are really hard....is this due to being dry? If so, will they soften if left in a humidor. Again, if so, about how long will this take. Thanks from a relative new smoker.

Jerry,
What are they if ya dont mind me ask`n. In most cases this will not hinder how they smoke. Have you cut one and checked how they draw?

Are they hard or are they brittle. Did you get them from a reputable source? Like Cbid!

I got them here......the Solaras Corona and the La Estrella Cubana's to name a couple. They are very hard and when smoked burn really slow and have a hard draw. Just wondering if leaving them in a humidor will soften them and make them burn and draw better.

No ... leaving them in the humidor will not soften up a hard cigar. They will absorb humidity and swell, and get even harder to draw.

Some cigars are just rolled tight like that ... ISOM's are notorious for that. That's better than being soft and mushy (like some Perdomo's) ...

Use a Draw Poker, a thin pointed rod of some sort, or a similar device to bore out the cigar to make it easier to smoke.

I'm afraid ther is not much more you can do, except maybe try the opposite of what you said ... and let it dry out a little!

Take it back Slim! Take back what you said about Perdomo!!

I can't ... because it's true.

I love most of Perdomo's cigars, but unfortuantely, I've had way too many that seemed like they were poorly rolled and underfilled.

... not all, mind you ... but more than you should find from a factory of that calibur.

A little stick massage is in order...only don't make it harder, uh, I mean don't rip the wrapper...be gentle and it'll draw just fine...

Oh, and the little sword that they use for the olives in martini's work well as a draw poker in a pinch too...experience is a good thing...
