Well, I don't know about you, but I'm a little wet. No, not excited (currently), but rather it's the Ploomidoor. I have it set for 70 degrees and 68% on the humidification device. Well the device has a tiny CPU fan that is attached to a wick that dips in to a well. It works great! But the ploomidoor also has a circulation fan which moves the air from the cooling unit to maintain the temperature. The "challenge" is that the breeze created by the circ fan seems to suck (hehehe) moisture out through the wick. I see it sit at 68 for a couple of daze, then it crawls to 69, 70, 71. Then I'd have to open it and fan it a bit to try to lower the humidity back. Well, this was getting to be a pain. So this AM, 71%, I pitched in a bag of Success rice before I left for work. The fans are still running. I got home tonight, we're at 70%. So the rice seems to be gulping up the excess, or sipping it up which is better. Is this madness? Can I expect a nice medium body, starchy smoke? I feel pretty good about it because those little plastic bags of rice don't really have any kind of smell or anything and I know the rice drinks in moisture.

But after all the cash you laid out to make it a high tech masterpiece;ya gotta put rice in it to maintain proper humidity? It's not madness,no. You have to protect the precious cargo. But personally, it would cause me no end of hair pulling. I WOULD DAMN WELL RECTIFY THAT SITUATION! But that's just me.

Yeah, it's a pisser... I was considering a reconfiguration, which does not place the humidification device directly in the path of the circ fan. That may fix it too. i.e., current config view from the top;

My original thinking was that this configuration would defuse the high humidity coming directly out of the unit. However, it seems to create the aforementioned problem. I think this weekend, I'll move it to the port or starboard against the wall, out of the way of that circ fan and see if that does the trick.

well that didn't work too well 😕 But you get the idea I hope. Moving the humidification device may alleviate the wicking affect (I am not a witch!)

hehehe, yeah, I took it out, reconfigured the humi, took the humidification device out of the line of fire of the circulation fan, so we'll see. So far, it looks good.

I've used rice as well to bring down humidity. Does the job nicely. Cedar from an old cigar box works as well.

Okay! I get it. The fan cause an excess of moisture by drawing it out of the humidifier. I think your solution will do the trick. You didn't waste any time either. You can be on my team anytime!

Good news! The movement of the humidification device out of the direct blast of the circ fan seems to have done the trick. This thing has been somewhat trial and error from day one since it came out of my brain (scary). Right now, it's holding right at 70 degrees and 67% humidity.
