Lets just get some arbor mist and tell the truth. We all love arbor mist with our cigars.

I have tried most of the good bourbons, even tho I tend to prefer Scotch. Some of you will turn up your noses at this, but even tho I have Makers Mark in my cabinet and drink it most of the time, and prefer it to Jack, I think I enjoy good old Jim Beam about as much as any bourbon. It has a nice little bite to it. For me, bourbon, cigars, and women can be just too smooth to be interesting.

As a side note, I've thoroughly enjoyed Pappy Van Winkle bourbon. Very smooth especially in the older age vintages.

OhmyGod, the thought of mixing Jack Daniels with coke would turn Frank Sinatra over in his grave! How in the world can people who claim to be cigar experts turn around and admit they defile fine Bourbon or Whiskey with coke?

Booker with Root Beer, or Maker's Mark with Pepsi sounds about as appealing as mixing Jack Daniels with Coke! I love Coca Cola, but not mixed with a fine whiskey! Just my opinion.

PS try Woodford Reserve sometime....damn fine with a couple of ice cubes!

Well, not quite that, X, although one has to admire the way your mind works! lmao

I dont drink the hard stuff all that often, but depending my mood, it might be neat, or on the rocks, or with a splash of branch water, or on occasion, by floating a splash on top of a diet Coke and sipping -not thru a straw- and replacing top layer as required. Frank mixed his with ice and water, at least after the docs told him to quit altogether.

Talking bourbon... I got a 5th of CLC when I left in 1987, So I have had it for 16 yrs.unopened. Does it get better or only if it is aged in original barrel. Don't know what to do with it.

Jack Daniels is a Tennessee Sour Mash Whiskey and not a bourbon, which is made in Kentucky. A Tennessee man might compare George Dickel, or Lem Motlow with Jack Daniels, but never Makers Mark. BTW, mixing whiskey with coke is a shame, but it's your money. You like Coors Light, too?

Questions concerning JW black vs blue, besides the price, what are the taste differences?

I'm about 1/2 way through a bottle of single barrel. I was a little disappointed with the result...at $30 for a 750ml I was expecting something much better than the regular JD. I think their marketing program did a heck of a job hyping it up with special packaging, individual numbering, etc.

I usually find myself pouring a MM instead.

I purchased a bottle of JD Single Barrel (750ml 94proof at a cost of $40.11) and it's worth every penny! I drink two or three fingers worth neat while smoking my favorite cigars, SHWEEEEEEEET !!!!!! Like JD best with my everyday cigars, Padron Churchill Maduro or Hemingway Classic. Thanks to all for your advice and suggestions. JonR

I must agree with eleltea, Jim Beam is my favorite. Nothing fancy just good kentucky straight bourbon. Pairs well with all my cigars.

Call me crazy, but when I'm not drinking Jack neat, he be dancing with ginger 🙂 BTW, I also find sipping on Knob Creek to be quite tasty with cigars.
