I dig Bobby Dylan and I dig Johnny Cash
And I think Waylon Jennings is a table thumpin' smash
And hearin' Joni Mitchell feels as good as smokin' grass
And if you don't like Hank Williams, honey, you can kiss my ass

Chorus:
'Cause I think what they've done is well worth doin'
And they're doin' it the best way that they can
You're the only one that you are screwin'
When you put down what you don't understand

I said, I dig Roger Miller, Merle Haggard; George Jones
Shotgun Willie Nelson and them rockin' Rollin' Stones
And Jerry Lee's still gotta be the coolest in the class
And if you don't like Hank Williams, honey, you can kiss my ass.

Chorus:
'Cause I think what they've done is well worth doin'
And they're doin' it the best way that they can
You're the only one that you are screwin'
When you put down what you don't understand

All my rowdy friends have settled down and it seems to be more in the laid back songs.
Nobody wants to get drunk and get loud. Everybody just wants to go back home.
I myself have seen my wilder days and I have seen my name at the top of the page,
but I need to find a friend just to run around. But no one wants to get high on the town
and all my rowdy friends have settled down.

And I think I know what my father meant when he sang about a lost highway and old George Jones I'm glad to see he's finally getting straight,
and Waylon staying home and loving Jesse more these days,
and nobody wants to get drunk and get loud and all my rowdy friends have settled down.

and the hangovers hurt more then they used to and corn bread and ice tea took the place of pills and ninety-proof,
and it seems like none of us do things quite like we used to do
and nobody wants to get high on the town and all my rowdy friends have settled down.

Yeah I think I know what my father meant when he sang about his lost highway and Johnny Cash don't act like he did back in '68
and Kris he is a movie star and he's moved off to L.A.
and nobody wants to get drunk and get loud and all my rowdy friends have settled down

yeah me and my rowdy friends have rowded on down.

Hank Sr, Hank Jr, and Hank III, are all great talents, and very different styles from each other. Although Hank III can belt out a moaning blues tune, and sound just like his grandaddy, just be prepared for his last set when on stage, it ain't anything like his dad or his grandads music. I recommend everyone should check out Hank Willimas III if you get a chance.

"If The Devils Got A Daughter"
His redition of "Cocaine Blues"
Or if you prefer "Mary Fu@#$ngJane"

eh, perhaps I was a little harsh on JR. 🙂

Just tainted by the two times I went to see him in concert. The first time he was a no show. The second time he showed up at almost midnight stagering around with a bottle of whiskey slurring his songs. The lights went on after about a half hour-45 mins. The crowd was not pleased. That was Nassau coliseum on Long Island in the early 90's. (shrug)
