What is the general consensus on the Gurkha line? Are they worth the money? I'm thinking of picking up a few, but I have not heard much good, bad, or otherwise about them. Thanks for the input.

Go for it. I've only had a fiver of the Robustos. It's another of those cigars that's sold before it's time. Didn't think much of them but at first but after six months in the vault it's an awesomely smoke. I got more on the way.

I have one in the humi from Cayman...just waiting to hear it call my name...

I believe they have "lowered" their standards
trying to "break in the market with cheaper
lines.. kind of mysterious with info available
on the web..

Havent smoked the "top" line (what are those?)
but the Expedition line Robusto was only an ok
middle road primo in my H.O.

Any thoughts on the 'Master Select' line in particular?

I was fortuante enough to have been gifted one of the Master Select line and rather enjoyed it. If I recollect correctly, they were a tad bit on the mild side though.

I smoked one of the "Regent" line and it is a decent smoke. It was a little harsh by the time I got to the end of the churchill, but I believe it will mellow with a little humidor time.

I have an "Expedition" in the humidor and am waiting for it to call me name.

just finished a gurkha and have to say like most cigars I smoke it was bland for the first 1/2 than the taste kicked in and I enjoyed the rest of it. Does this happen to any one else?

The Gurkha Regent Robusto kicks butt! Try those.

The ones that I've tried have been very good, but very mild. The Regents have great potential but are still very young. They are good if you like sitting around identifying subtle flavor notes, not so much if you like barbecue sauce on your leg of lamb.

The Gurkha Regency is a limited, extensively aged cigar. I've enjoyed them right after recieving them. Just my opinion.

I think there is a difference between well aged tobacco, and a well aged cigar. Like I said it comes across as quality, it just feels like it needs to settle down a bit. I also acknowledge that there is a good chance that I don't know what I'm talking about. It's just the impression that I got.

I smoked my first Gurkha last night and was very pleased. Though I tend to gravitate towards the more full-bodied side of the spectrum, I really enjoyed it (medium bodied). I had the Master Select Toro. There is no need to let them "settle down" in the humi, b/c there is no harshness what so ever or unless you want them to get even milder.
