Not what you may expect from me, especially given the title. I smoked a Hoyo de Monterrey Dark Sumatra Media Noche tonight and was underwhelmied. It was not a bad cigar, but it didn’t impress me. I don’t know if I’m just getting to be a cigar snob or what. Perhaps it was young. Maybe with some age, these would be good gars. I’ve just groan less tolerant of cigars that don’t cut the muster.

Following it up with a Cuban monte #4 🙂 no disappointment there!

If I understand correctly, I agree with you ...

The majority of different HdM's I've tried were dissapointing but the Monty #4 not only passes muster, it DOES cut the mustard ...

ive smoked 2 of the media noches, the first was delicious, almost tasted like chocolate towards the end, but the second one was not impressive at all

I like them too, but not as much as the "plain Jane" Hoyo double corona-double maduro, or the Hoyo 75's. IMHO they weren't aged properly prior to release. It seems that many of the big brand name outfits feel pressure to keep issueing new and improved products. Just like cars, they're not all winners but they keep their products on your radar.
