If you could have your favorite cigar, regardless of brand, custom rolled to your specifications would you opt for a large ring gage or long barrel (or both)? I know that the flavor/strength profile of a cigat is affected greatly by both length and girth but just as a matter of personal preference for the way it feels when held what would be your preference?

52-54 ring and 5.5 length, my perfect smoke, maybe that's why I love the padron 5k...

I'm with cwilhelmi - I like a balance of both. My favorite is about 50-54 guage and 5.0 - 5.75 in length.

My preference has changed over the years. I use to favor robustos with a 50 ring. Now I prefer larger ring (52-60). I don't really have a favorite length and it's usually just decided by the amount of time I have to smoke. So for me girth is much more of a factor than length.

I like variety in both cigars and size. If held to only one size it would be 7.0 X 50. But all in all
performance is much more important than size.

I like the 50 to 54 ring. More important to me than the length.

I often enjoy a 4.5 x 50 robusto at lunch time and frequently smoke a 7.25 x 54 while watching one of the boys play ball on the weekend ...

That said, a 6 x 52 torp is, for me, the absolute ideal, but a 54-ring is only 1/32" greater in dia, and a 50-ring only 1/32" less ... not too big a variance and a great many of my favs are those sizes as well ...

ditto, a perfect example and one of my favs is the Punch Rare Corojo. The little one, Rothchild? I REALLY like that cigar.

I also like the 50-54s. I like longer cigars for physical labor like mowing lawns and such. Robustos are cool if I'm short on time. Pyramids and Torps are probably my favorite though. I've yet to have a good Presidente.

For me, the 7 by 49 is the perfect combo of length and girth. The Padron churchill is 6 7/8 by 46 so it is a little smaller than I like (but still acceptable). The Genuine churchill is 7.25 by 54 so it is a little big (but still good, with age). The masterpiece is the VSG Sorceror, weighing in at 7 by 49 (perfection).

I have no favorite; it just depends on the time I have. However, I generally prefer ISOMs at 42-48 ring.
