I'm a newbie to the board but I've been reading it for a few months. My initial question is, "How do you guys control yourself?" I find myself bidding on lots that I don't really need because I already have four humidors and two Igloos filled with cigars. I smoke only about 2-3 cigars per day since I work in a smoke-free environment (who doesn't nowadays?) but I can't seem to stop bidding on this damn web site. Never been addicted to anything before in my life, but I can't seem to stop buying cigars. Anybody wrestled with this, please share your secret of control. Thanks for any imput.

I can't believe you're not flooded with response ... most of us either ARE or HAVE BEEN where you're at right now ... but it's no problem, really ... hitting the limit on your card will do it if nothing else does ...

Last month I spent er let me see ( JonR looks at Aprils C-Bid invoices, gasps + chokes ) er there must have been an error in addition, er let me look at this months invoices ( Mother of Mercy I need some serious help ) er arwings you have a nice day and I'll get back to you later yeah that's the ticket later . welcome to the board. Stay on the forum side. Don't give in to the temptations of the bidding side. That way leads only to sweaterdors and high credit card bills. NEVER go to the bidding side. Just hang around here and post messages.. while I bid on all the things your aren't competing for.

Try taking it one week at a time. When you make it thru the first week, then the temptation lessens and you can make it a second week, then a third week. You now have self control. Then and only then should you go over to the other side, that and when there is a particular item you are looking for.

We have a good twelve step program if you are interested. The first step is to admit that you have the addiction. Second step - clear your environment of all temptation. Third step is to disconnect yourself from the triggers which compel you to buy. The fourth step is to partake in healthy activities that are are not associated with the evil little devils. The next step is...pardon me while I light up (puff,puff)...humm what's this? No bids on the box of Excalibur III? I'll lay out $30 to start! Let's see where was I? Step five is to... what the heck who upped the bid to $36!!! Sorry I will have to get back to you on the other steps, got to teach this guy a lesson!!!! Yeah $40 IN YOUR FACE SUCKER...

I have only been using the site for 3 weeks and have the same problem. To comabt this I login once a day and place a bid on any item I really like or want to try. Then I never go back to those items. I never up the original amount(I do use autobid). As previously stated it is all Self Control. Good Luck and BTW if you have too many feel free to send em my way. I'll be constructing a coolerdor nextweek.

I am in the midst of a self-imposed moratorium on all bidding for a month, owing to a bit too much enthusiasm the past few weeks. It is a lonely vigil. All the more so, since I finished constructing my first tuppador, and now have lots of extra room to fill. Oh well, next month is coming!!

I tried enlisting my wife's help to stop bidding. Told her to tell me NOT to bid anymore. First thing that I wanted she said, "If you want it, go ahead and get it." Well she SAID I could and she brings in half the money!! I wonder if the mortgage company will take cigars instead of my payment?

The method that I have learned to apply is to make alot
of bids but to low-ball the price so that you win very
few. In order to soothe the savage beast it is necessary to make the bid close enough that you have some chance of winning but rarely do. You will not get your fix if you make unrealistic low bids. Of course this method only takes the edge off and it is necessary to win occasionally to keep this method effective. It also helps if you discover some less expensive brands that you like and stay away from the
Fuentes and Bucaneros. That way it keeps your debt manageable and hopefully stops the Misses from searching the Yellow Pages for a Divorce Lawyer.

Warning: do not engage in the game of finding the best prices on Cuban cigars. THAT is another level of this pit of addiction, one that adds up fast.

On the other hand, the boxes are pretty and the smokes are elite.
