Rush Limbaugh like Phil Donahue is a successful entertainer. He and/or his staff do a hidious job of fact checking before making statements and he has been busted for it over and over. When brought to task on it, he back peddles by calling his show "infotainment". (whatever that is.) Whenever I hear him say, "Now folks, I'm not making this up!" I run for the proverbial grain of salt.

Look Spiny if lesbian squirrels and the Bishops that love them is your idea of great TV then by all means he's your guy. I tell ya what, you can take Phil,Geraldo,Oprah and any other nut job that has a show like Phil's. I'll take my little slice of Fox News and you can have them. Look doc, I could give a rats backside about the Donahue show any more then I give a $#%* about Rush Limbaugh. The challange was made to find a successful liberal talk show host. I stepped up to the plate and knocked one over the fence.

Spiney, Phil's show wasnt a just a political show. It had a wide variety of topics. Its not a fair comparision.

Rush is strictly politics, maybe every now and then he may talk about golf or a cigar he had.

But I want anyone to come up with a FULL TIME politcal liberal show that is NATIONALLY successful....just one....hehehehe!....yea right!

I believe the top 5 radio broadcasts are by conservatives. Rush, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, Michael Reagan, Dr Laura.

Mag is right, Phil D had a talk show which was not political. He was no different from Maury or Jenny or Opera or any of them.

Also, the country (IMO) was more liberal 30, 20, even 10 years ago. It's slanting more concervative now (generally speaking). And this I believe is a pattern which is, has been, and will be cyclical.

Things are getting more and more concervative, at some point, they will reach concervative critical mass, and they will begin to swing back. Hopefully not in 2008... The "Hildabeast"...

Oh, if being a dork is being rich, smoking the BEST cigars, golfing at the finest courses, hanging out with other VERY successful people, being the VERY best at what you do.......then I want to be a dork!!!

#2 his show couldn’t last on TV because is was on a liberal network example (the savage nation) that was just taken off MSNBC
#3 heres a list of stations that put a liberal anti-American spin on there news CNN,MSNBC,ABC.CBS,NBC, and PBS that promotes being gay with your money NOW!

#4 us conservatives have NEW TALK RADIO, FOX NEWS and that’s all we need!!!!!

I dunno guys ... I'm about as conservative in my politics as it's possible to get and be even remotely reasonable (slightly to the right of Attilla The Hun, according to my oldest son) ... I was at times entertained by Phil Donahue, but was utterly appalled by his politics and not at all sorry to see him hit the bricks ...

But I just can't fully embrace Rush ... I'm OK with a lot of what he has to say, but I think that part of what he says is just a bit over the edge ... I'm put off by him to about the same extent I'd imagine your typical Democrat is put off by the ultra-goofiness of Jesse Jackson and/or Hilary ...

One of my favorite political figures once said "There are only two kinds of people in the world: the decent and the indecent." There are certainly decent people from all political persuasions. I don't listen to Rush very often, but he is a bright fellow, and knows a lot about cigars. I doubt if Marvin Shanken shares his political beliefs, although I don't know that, but they seem to be on good terms. In real life Rush is far from bombastic and a pleasant dinner companion, by all accounts. He may be a little too Republican for many tastes, but he is a decent human being, which cannot be said (with a straight face) of some of his favorite targets.
