Scored a 5-pk of the Ole a few weeks ago. Had been debating bidding on these for some time as the bids tend to be a bit higher than many 5-pks. Not a DOG ROCKET but close...leaves a rather amonia like after taste. Any one else sense this? Only aged them in the humi for a month.

Amonia taste is a tell tale indicator that the cigar is too young!

I think everyone should boycott bidding on these "lone wolf" wannabes.

P.S. They are aged for 5 years

If you call these a dog rocket and lone wolfs what do you smoke? CErtified Bonds or Island Delights. Oliva has been nothing but good to me. You people just have no taste.

How can one Age them for a month when just purchased a few weeks ago?

was they the Naturals or the Maduros?? I got a box of the Maduro's sittin in my humidor... been aging about 2 months now or more.. and was first turned onto these... The "Naturals" (red band) by JJ in a trade many moons ago... IMO with some age these are middle to top shelf Cigar... "almost" every Cigar needs a bit of time to climatize and settle a bit... But if this was a post to sales pitch for another 5 pack.. Too Late... I was there a few days ago and you gotta guess my Max bid!!! LoL

I love just about everything the Oliva Family produces.

The red-banded "O"s are some of the best cigars out there IMHO. Maybe your batch was just bad, but get another batch and give them a second chance. They're reeeeal good.

NO ikonoklast7!! What you mean to say is, "this is one of the worst cigars I have EVER smoked! Avoid them at ALL COSTS!!" 🙂

Very odd, indeed. Oliva "O" are one of the better SG smokes around, IMO. Only problem I ever had with them was a slightly tight draw, but as far as taste....no problems here.

Umm, yeah, I mean...Oliva "O"s are terrible! Don't ever bid on them again! In fact, send any remaining Oliva "O"s, or for that matter, any cigars made by the Oliva Family to me for proper disposal! They must be wiped off the face of the earth!

HarleyRed hasen't even posted on this thread ... and he may not even see your post.

What not post your thread over on the 'Trades' board with his username in the subject, and I'll bet you get a quicker response ...

USAHOG asks, how did I age them for a month if I only purchased a few weeks ago...oops, I obviously mistated! But reading the responding posts I decided to try another one today and it wasn't so bad but still had a slight after-taste that I didn't like. Just shows that 1st opinions aren't always correct. This isn't a gutlass reversal, but a reevaluation.

I'll stick to these maddies in the future: Excalibur#1, any Padron, LGC series R, Cuesta-Rey #60 Centenario. Thanks all,

Mark

mister-ez may I suggest also in your line-up and for the buck, sometimes under rated Flor De Oliva "Gran Maduro's" also might read the Purging post recently on the forum here...

This is a public service announcement! Stay clear of bidding on the "O"'s. These are manufactured in a highly toxic area and that aroma you are describing is the decay of radioactive particles. In fact if you want to verify, turn off your lights, stand in front of your medicine cabinet mirror in your bathroom. You will see a faint glow enamating from an aura surrounding you. At best these cigars will cause sterility; at worst you may change from the life-form you are now, into something entirely different and unknown. Repeat, stay away from bidding on the "O"'s. Don't say you weren't warned!!!

I bought a box of the Omnis here on Cbid and they currently have about 6 months or more box age. There were just fine when I bought them and they are even better now. The sungrown spice is there along with medium body complexity.

IMHO, a good substitute for the Fuente Chateau sungrown line.
