but i feel a second paragraph is in order and once agian i urge you to stop reading this post which has nothing in it or about it, that suggests something will be said that might interest anyone.

I looked at the picture and thought it was Dennis Miller.

I think it was just prior to the Crusades when the Christians needed to have an image of Jesus that was acceptible to the European people. Having a 5' or so bearded north african/eastern mediterranean face wouldn't cut it with the "soon to be recruited (or die)" non Christians.

They used a more local face to represent the guy who was going to save their souls. So in most representations of jesus...you get a white guy, sometimes blonde.

Robby...read up a little. I don't think Jews held the cards when Jesus was killed. I think the occupying forces (the Romans) nailed him to the cross and crucified him. Jews who resisted, showed sympathy or tried to resist or fight his crucifiction would, at best, meet the same fate.

Romans were not the nicest of hosts. And considering the slow communications, lack of media and illiteracy rate, probably 99.9% of the people in the region never even heard of jesus when he was alive or that he was sentenced to die.

...But the Romans sure could throw a party!

Rick makes a well-worn point when he links Robertson, Falwell, et al with Jesus. I think the problem isn't Jesus but the fact that bastards like that link themselves with Jesus. (Of course, this response is well-worn, also.)

I think it is funny as hell. And I have "given my life to Christ." I'm a serious student of scripture (formal education...not just "read and let the Holy Spirit guide me) and a damn good theologian.

I will stop now before I get carried away.

Rayder, Hello! Hello?? Is this thing on?? (tap tap), that was a deliberate dig at our Jewish poster... Nothing more, nothing less.

Well, Robby...

I'm sure you know that your allusion is to a passage that deals with making empty oaths in order to appear pious. Jesus said to let your yes be yes and no be no to illustrate the need for integrity of character, not for silence or shortwindedness (that may be in other places).

Oooppss...did it again. If I don't stop, Ethan'll get me!!

Ha! You try to resist, but you just can't!!! Haven't I been such a good example for you??? I have resisted because none of this has anything to do with Jesus or George Bush. It has to do with an "us" vs. "them" battle that Rick likes waging, and I agree that I too have some fun with it at times, but more often, recently, have started putting my mud down and follow YOUR example by searching out only the battles that truly need to be fought...

There will always be inaccuracies when people start making claims about a time in history or a book that people like us who have studied for years and actually care about still don't have a complete understanding of... this is a hard battle to fight...

Robby...sorry..I didn't catch it as satire.

I tend to get my back up when I hear people refer to jesus as being killed by jews.

Anyway...it still looks like Dennis Miller

They were at least involved... That's not in dispute. The San Hedron was out to get him and viewed him as a threat.

And besides, if Rick who is Jewish can take pot shots at my religion by posting this picture, then what's wrong with a little feast on our time, after all, it is our time isn't it Mr. Hand?
