How do I stop bidding on CBid?!

I only discovered CBid a couple weeks ago and I have already won over 100 sticks at ridiculously low prices. So now I am getting to a point where I feel pretty well loaded up on smokes and that I should probably taper off for a while. But how am I supposed to resist picking up items which retail at 5-6 times auction price? I mean seriously, when some of these 5-packs come up at $5-$8 for sticks that sell on CI for $20-$30 and at my local shop for more yet, how can I not bid?

You guys need to quit bidding up the humidors so I have a place to keep these things 🙂

Only 100?! You've got a long way to go before you slow down. Coolers, tupperware, sweater boxes...fill em up! Once you hit 1000+ you'll start tapering off. Don't fight it, just enjoy the ride.

CBidder Anonymous meets every Wednesday night. The problem is nobody ever attends because they're too busy trying to snipe one more 5-pack to save money on Thursday's shipping costs.

I've asked the same question! Your're DOOMED! Believe me, there is only darkness ahead; no light. You can struggle, if you wish; the outcome will be the same. You will eventually embrace the concept that you are no longer in control. You will reach a place where you will be mortified and humiliated to disclose the number of cigars you have. I now have eight (8) humidors, two (2) 120-quart igloodors, two (2) 70-quart igloodors, and am running out of storage room.

I'm sorry it happened to you, but you can't get help from anyone on this board. We're all doomed too! CA (Cigars Anon), reason, logic, pleading, crying, self-mutilation, financial ruin, bankruptcy, loss of home and family; all to no avail!!!

i think i am reacting to the 8 or so years ago, when cigars at $10.00 to $15.00 were the norm.

now i can pick up decent cigars here at $2.00.

some sort of amortization? if you are raised poor, you are always hungry? i can afford it? i can smoke more and pay less?

i try not to analyze it, i just buy more sweater boxes and make more humidifiers.

when toby and i go to vegas this time, probably two or three sweater boxes and a half dozen bohemian 10 pack samplers. and always a few isom's to smoke at the freemont experience, at night, sitting at an outside table pretending i am going to order something.

i watch the people walking to and fro and have the smug, snotty, attitude, that no one is smoking a better cigar then i am.

i'll still go to the indian reservation smoke shop about a mile from there and buy some of the better cigars, monte series V, and whatever else catches my eye at the moment, a little higher then cbid, but i can't go to vegas without buying a few more cigars i don't need.

100 cigars. LOL...man that was several weeks ago. I have at least 1500 sticks and now I am forced to taper off or suffer the wraith of the real "boss" of the house. But it is so hard the dark side of the force keeps calling my name. But then that light prevails ( the frying pan hurts also ) MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

My advice....don't fight it. Roll with it. If you fight it, you will just be worn out and it will hurt more. Go with it. Accept your fate. Here's some more friendly advice if yer married......get a "stealth credit card" and have the statement mailed to your office. hehe

1) Rip up all your charge cards.
2) Sell your computer.
3) Pray for more electrical blackouts.
4) Try cocaine. It is less addictive.

Honestly, you have to put yourself on a budget and not go over it. Not even if something is on sale. If you spend over the budget, take it out of next months. If you underspend, add it to next months budget.

Don't buy boxes, no matter what, until you are 100% sure of your taste in cigars. My tastes changed at about 4 months into this. Buy only 5 packs and do trades. When you find yourself going back to the same cigars over and over, then get a box.

Don't buy cheap cigars in large quantities thinking you will age them. Cheap cigars don't age.

When you can afford it, buy a box of PAM/PAN/OPUS/ANEJO/DC/VSG or any of the other big trading cigars. Then you will always have good trade material to get samples of other cigars.

That's 'bout all I got to say about that.

Don't even worry about quitting until you have AT LEAST 2 years worth. That way, in 2 years you will be smoking only well aged cigars. Then TRY to limit yourself to purchasing only enough to keep up with your habit.

I also concur with the gang. Forget more desktops. Get a coolador and use your desktops as dryboxes (65% RH) for your read-to-go stoges.

Totally. My Coolidor works way better than my desktop. As a matter of fact I've put my desktop inside my cooly.

A couple of months ago there was a discussion as to which was better. Question answered for me.

Stay within your BUDGET!!!! Know when to say when!!!! And NEVER buy the mints!!!!!

First you should ask yourself, "do I want to stop?" I did exactly the same thing about 3 years ago. I even bought a bigger humidor. I say if budget allows don't stop. Wait 'til C-Bid sends you one of thier reknown Hot Deals, then you'll really have to get a coolerdor.
