I know there are a lot of Frank Zappa fans like TG, DMV, and Homebrew. What Album would you recommend if I were going to purchase my first one this weekend? I understand it will probably be difficult to pick a favorite, but if you have any suggestions, I would appreciate it.

Depends on what you are looking for.

Sheik Yerbouti (funny)

Zoot Allures (rockin and funny)
songs like "Wind up working in a gas station"
and "Ms. Pinky" about a blow-up doll

Hot Rats (great instrumentals)

Bongo Fury (good live stuff)
feat. "Muffin Man"

I have Overnight Sensation/Apostrophe on one cd...pretty good deal

Joes Garage is a classic.

If you're used to conventional radio music "Overnight Sensation" is probably most accessable.

Personally "We're only in it for the money" or "Just another band from LA" are my favorites.

Have to agree with #13 to start out with. Live at the Filmore is another good one.

Joe's Garage or 200 Motels

I like them all but i think " Overnight" Sensation gives the broadest selection of his classic style. Songs like Dynamo Hum and Movin To Montanna are true classics.

I like Joes Garage and I am not a big fan of Zappas.

Sparks was another intresting band, here is one of my favorites from them :
Nobody miss diminutive offspring
Not when there's big wigs there, there
Dinner for twelve is now dinner for ten
'Cause I'm under the table with her

I give a yelp and they throw me a cutlet
Somebody pats her hair, hair
Everyone's nice to the subhuman species
I'm under the table with her

People all around the world are having only rice and tea
Two of them should come and take the place of Loura Lee and me
