Has the idea of a live cigar chat ever floated around here? Just wondering if anyone ever heard anything about this. I think talking to someone live is a better way to get to know fellow BOTL. The downfall of this idea is the amount of bandwidth it will take up from cbid server.

I may be speaking out of turn...and if so, I stand to be corrected...

But I don't think Slim is trying to be an ass. I think he is deferring to wbslngr because he has a site and the know-how to host a chat. He may have some good thoughts (thay may be previously posted...don't remember) on why this would be good/bad/difficult/etc.

Sorry Billy, you may have been reading between the lines there. I wasn't imparting any assishness on his Slimness, I was simply saying he's never without words... A simple I don't know and I'm deferring would be better than silence, but in his defense, maybe he stepped away from his PC. I'm sure he knows the history/status on this issue.

Why don't we arrange to have a chat on AIM? You can create your own chat rooms there.

I've been away from my computer (Robby was correct) and I was hoping wbslngr would pick up on this one ... becasue he is the expert.

This topic was dwelled upon in great depth awhile back ... and CB is not going to host a chat room (for numerous reasons), so Billy pretty much summed it up ...

wbslngr created, and is/was hosting chat site that pretty much disappeared ... because nobody visited it much.

At least, not all at the same time, where there were enough people there at one time to hold any decent conversations ... or that is how it seemed to me ...

I'm sure wbslngr will see this thread topic ... and eventually enlighten us all on the subject.

Or ... there is always the 'search the boards' feature ... LOL!

Yea, I remember there was one some people on here used a few months ago. Used to have the site saved, but lost all my favorites about a month ago. But if you guys do ever decide to have some sort of chat on AOL IM, hit me up. GardnerFTW is my name on that as well.

I lease my own servers and host a few sites. I started a chat and from what I remember people did visit. BUT not at the same time just as Slim stated. I think Marla even tried to nail it down to a time once for us to meet there but I don't think hardly anyone arrived. I have removed the chat but for different reasons. Since I started the hoosier herfers website I figured I would put it there. It will be back up soon for anyone that would like to chat.

I finally get here and answer and now no cares?

Not that many people use it, but there is a chat room at cigar.about.com! It rarely gets used. I go in every once in a while in hopes that someone is lingering in there. But to no avail . . .

I would also be interested. I don't get to the boards as often as I would like, but a live chat would be fun. If I recall I droped in a couple of times and no one was there in the past. If it starts up again let me know. Marla, you have my e-mail and are around more than I, could I impose on you to rattle my cage?
