Here's my take, if someones birthday is coming up, and you did not receive a package from them on your birthday, then the rest of the group should be notified that someone has likely left the group.

Since I received packages from everyone, I think I should still send them out to everyone, regardless. I am open to thoughts that I should not ship since someone else might have gotten stiffed, but I would only do that at the request of the greater group. I still feel an obligation.

A better idea might be for me to hold my shipment, and if the trade is never made good, I could send it to someone who got stiffed.

I am with you in the thinking that you should reciprocate with a pkg, if you received one, regardless wheter or not the individual has dropped out. What's troubling to me is the complete lack of communication to Jay. I understand everyone has priorities and cigars are probably down far on that list, but no one is that busy that they can't drop him a line to explain their tardiness. While some may enjoy getting packages several months past their B-day, that was /is not the intent when forming the group. just my .02

I hope everyone was fine with my e-mail. I don't want to embarrass or call out anyone. It was just a friendly reminder of our commitment to each other.

update on the delayed cigars thing..
Its seems that 2 people who haven’t had their birthday haven’t sent to Jay, and only one person who has had their birthday hasn’t sent.. ( that would mean only one person was in the black and not in the red) I have tried a couple emails with no response... I don’t think looking up them in a phone book is appropriate, but I am up for anything.. any recommendations..??

I would say that you need us who they are BEFORE their birthday. It doesn't really matter until we start shipping packages to them. If you didn't get a package from them, or, your bday is after theirs, you should not ship. Those of us (me) that did get a package can go ahead and ship.

I agree telcom.... we have a bit of time, I will see if it works out. 🙂

buffalo is right, I haven't received cigars from three people. Two of those people have contacted me (about two weeks ago) but that's all I've heard. I suppose that sadly I'm not expecting much. I admit, it's very disappointing, although I am very pleased with what I got.

As far as calling them or whatever, I suppose that's not necessary. The problem is between me and them (and of course anyone else they slighted). Your choice to send to them or not should be based on your commitment TO send.

I didn't make a commitment to send them something if they sent me something. So unfortunately my commitment dictates that I send them something, even though they did not send me anything.

I'd be happy for someone to talk me out of this theory...

Finally, how soon is too early to send the cigars? I'd be very happy to wash my hands of this situation. Is now too early to send to the remaining birthdays?

That is so wrong, I hope you do not do that. Everyone joining the club made a binding agreement. By not sending to you, they broke that agreement with you. It would be silly for you to hold up to your end of the agreement.
