This is all have left of my Cuban EL's ... well, minus one ...

Sunday (10/12) morning (at 5 am) I brewed a pot of 100% Jamacian Blue Mountain coffee ... and fired up the 'Partagas Piramides No. 2 Limited Edition Maduro'.

What a way to start a Sunday morning ... eh?

I picked it up when were were in Cozumel, along with the 'Cohiba EL', at the Havana Club (La Casa Del Habano) ... and figured it was as good a time, as any, to put it to the fire.

Man ... what a smoke!!! This has to be the one of the best Cuban cigars that I have smoked to this day ... and I just can't see it getting any better than this!

If this absolutely wonderful cigar didn't convince me that there really is something to the Cuban cigar hype ... nothing will. Medium bodied, excellent draw, and packed with a tingling array of flavors that reminded me of a good satisfying B-B-Q'ed steak dinner ... and for breakfast, no less!

The only downside ... as I was smoking it, I noticed one 'small little hole' about ¼ of the way up from the ash. And sure enough ... a little beetle emerged, scrambling for his life!

YIKES!!!

... and I pulled this cigar from my 'exclusive' ISOM humidor. Looks like at this point, they are all on their way to the freezer ... ;^( ... just to be sure!

I have a Partagas #2 EL, compliments of docrks...
At the first herf I met him, he opened his Elite cigar case filled with ISOM's and offered to all there. A class act... The Partagas was my take...

Looking forward to smoking it...

Yummy looking smokes. I've only had the pleasure of one in your photo, the PSDNo3EL. The RYJ Robusto and Monte Robusto (a gift from deadeyedick) were excellent also. Looking forward to more if the wallet gets a little thicker.

Those are all fantastic smokes. Have you had the Romeo y Julieta Herms #1? They are my favorites, though those four round out my top five faves from the Edicion Limitadas.

Because of this picture, an EL will meet a flaming death tomorrow.

Nice Slim!

Hope your beetle problem turns out ok. Hey, I was gifted to me a Partagas-Habana Serie D No.3 Edicion Limitada 2001, and a Partagas-Habana Serie D No.4

How are those? any good? They are sleeping in my humi.

It's funny to see that picture again ...

... and to finally realize that that '$32 Cohiba' that I got in Cozumel was a (drum roll please) ... an honest to goodness 'counterfeit' !!!

Yep ... look at the band.

And to think that I was totally convinced, that it was literally impossible to buy fakes at a La Casa Del Habano ...

... but it just goes to show you ...

... it can happen even at the places that you thought were safe.

It's funny that I never noticed it then ... I guess since I bought it at the LCDH, I didn't think twice.

Yep ... looks like the joke is on me!

It's the 'newer' band ... and it only has two rows of 'white sqares' above Cohiba. It's supposed to have three ...

Yep ... I was taken.

AND ... can you imagine my embarrasment, if I would have sent it out to one of those two guys I offered it to in my other thread, you know ... the one where they were putting me down for paying $32 for a cigar ?!?

... oh ... the humility ... oh ... the shame ...

And ... I was just at the CA 'Counterfeit' page, and I noticed that they don't have any photos posted of the 'newer' band, that is a counterfeit.

I guess it's time to send it in, and see if I'm the first to get published on their site ...

... and maybe some good will come out of it.

Not so fast Slim. Go to the official Habanos SA website and look at the pictures on their site. They look like the one in your picture.

I'll have to check it out ... but this is what CA says about it:

Cohiba's new band was released in June, 2003, first appearing on the new Siglo VI. The design is familiar to Cohiba smokers, with some notable differences.

The first is the gold on the word "Cohiba" and its surrounding border, plus a gold line has been added running through the center of the band. The "La Habana, Cuba" script on the old label has been changed to simply "Habana, Cuba".

***Lastly, there are now three rows of white square dots above the word "Cohiba" where before there were two.***

All Cohibas being produced now are being packaged with the new bands, but old bands are still in circulation.
