How old are you (if you don't mind me asking) and when did you start playing?

I played a little in Junior High and liked the game but did not play or watch after that. I am now 43 and am beginning to love the game, mainly because of my 8yr old daughter that plays. I really enjoy getting out there with her and watching it on TV and have thought about joining a seniors league if I can find one.

Also- I recently took her to an LA Galaxy game at the Home depot Center in LA. WOW!!!! Soccer is one of the most exciting sports I have ever seen live.... which is why I think it has not caught on here. Live and on TV are completely different. I will say though that after seeing it live, it is more enjoyable to wath on TV.

I live for the beautiful game!!! I played my whole life until recently. Now I referee, currently a state 2, working on my state 1.

I am 29 years old, and have been playing since I was a young kid (can't remember when). I am currently on the DL because I broke my toe in a match 2 weeks ago. This picture was taken during a preseason friendly between people on my ship and an Argentine ship the was on our pier. The field we were playing on is the old pitch, that does not get taken care of anymore. The tall grass certainly made for an interesting time.

My wife laughs at me because I will watch whatever matches I can, even if they are on an international channel that I cannot even understand the language. I will just sit and watch the match, ignoring the announcers. She thought I was gonna go crazy when she went to a live match with me.

Soccer players are nuts. Give me good old American football. I'd much rather hit somebody than run around them.

I can't play but I like to watch the games. Spent alot of time in Germany watching with the locals.

The Argentines beat the tar (no pun intended) out of us like 7 - 1. I scored our only goal.

My wife's cousin is a starter on the Honduran national soccer team. We got to watch him play against Brazil on Univision a few months back. He really is quite good, voted MVP of the team at 21 years old.

i now live near cleveland and play pick up games.
my girlfriend hates the Spanish channel because i watch all the games and cant understand a word....

Tar - Since you are a "Fussballer" you need to visit me here in Germany. The local town matches are beautiful not to mention the State level championships. I used to play soccer every weekend. I still love to watch it!

BTW - then we could burn some of the best damn cigars in the Whole World together!

I wish I could. I was stationed in London for 2 years. Talk about being in "football" heaven!! Getting a pickup game was as easy as getting a pickup basketball game over here.

cool pic! I like soccer as well. Its been a while since I have played. I am waiting until I turn 30 this year to get in the "Old Men's" league. Those younger kids are too competitive and will run circles around me 😉

I played soccer in my younger days. We tried to play in high school in Alabama during the Bear Bryant years. They banned us from bringing a soccer ball on school grounds so we formed a club and played on our own. We played with people from all over the world as I lived next to the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Al. After we won the Southeast Conference they decided to form a soccer team. LOL

man I really miss playing. Now that my knee has recovered, I can't wait to get back out there. If things work out, I will be transferring to Naples, Italy soon. Then I can play in a more competitive environement.

love to play it and watch it...I speak fluent spanish and love to watch every soccer match I can find (except MLS soccer because American announcers could not be more boring). I lived in Chile for a while during the 98 world cup and for any of you who have never been out of the country...you have never seen dedication to a sport until you have seen a soccer country watch with its national team at the world cup. I was in a city of two million people and I could walk the streets and hear a pin drop. Not one person, car, nothing but people watching t.v.

I never watched a soccer game in my life. I must be missing something.
