Newbie Sampler Thread FAQ's (revised and updated for CBid) borrowed from CW. Thank you JayMonster!

Thanks to all the experienced brothers for volunteering to help out our new members. In a later thread I will post the list of experienced traders. As of right now the list contains the finest BOTL assembled anywhere. Therefore, there should not be any concerns from a Newbie regarding reliability or dependability of the following people:

Background: This thread is designed to allow new members to get a good sampler of cigars from an experienced smoker. It also has the underlying intent of fostering the brotherhood whereas an experienced smoker provides mentorship and advice about which cigars are in (their) opinion the best out there. Listed below are “Some” specifics that will help us to get started. I am interested in feedback, especially if there is something that I did not clearly articulate.

Explanation: What is the Newbie Sampler?

A specific thread where a Newbie (or anybody) can trade for a variety of Cigars. The experienced guy would help the Newbie decide which cigars best fits his tastes based upon the feedback from the Newbie and would tell the Newbie what he would want in return for the sampler. The Newbie would get the “experienced” guy what he wanted and the "experienced" guy would send the Newbie a nice package of assorted cigars.

Benefits: Why would I want to trade with these people?

1. First and foremost, time and money will be saved by the new person.
2. The new person will receive a large variety of smokes. All of which have been well maintained and are not dog rockets. This will save the Newbie time and money in the long run not to mention provide him with a little
3. Mentoring from an experienced cigar smoker.

Note: There are many more reasons but I wanted to keep this kind of brief.

Mechanics: How is the trade going to work?

There will be a list of experienced smokers that I will maintain on the Newbie sampler thread. A new person would post that they are interested in getting a sampler along with their email address. The experienced trader would post on the thread email sent and reply to the Newbie. The deal would then be handled between the two people and the experienced trader would update the thread by posting Newbie trade completed with (insert tag here). This will allow everyone to see the progress of the Newbie thread.

If for some reason that trader is unable to accommodate the Newbie then the trader will post that he cannot meet the requirements and the next experienced trader in line would try to help the Newbie until the needs of the Newbie are met.

Summary: If the trade does not work out where both people are totally satisfied then either or both parties can contact me and I will do my best to make it right.

How many cigars are we talking about, roughly? Is that to be decided by the two parties?

Yes, the list will rotate.

The amount as well as the size and shapes will be determined between the two parties involved.

I was joking, I don't want to upset anyone :)I started a rookie Pass and have been in a mean nasty fight with fbcoach, and yes he is winning but I have not tossed inthe towel, although this could end up like cool hand luke against George Kennedy (what was his name..big train??)

Grob - I am sure that you are not a newbie. Just to clariify, it is not "All About" being a newbie.

Anyone can get a sampler from an experienced brother if they are willing to take care of the their wants.

Darn good ideas by all. I would like to recieve a sampler,then bomb the BOTL back, and even wait in the shadows for a lonely deserving newbie in the near future and bomb him silly too. Could be a great way for grand BOTL's, newbies and future newbies to mix it up. Just my .02
