Guys, I have been a smoker for about 2 months...Been buying gars on CB. Spend about $400. so far on 3 orders.. I have been giving them away to some friends and they are saying they are no good....To me they taste pretty good....Being new I don't like real stong ones...

What would you say is the overall quality of the brands at CB....How about giving me some recommendations as to some of your favorities...Thanks Tom...A real green newbe.

Put this one on cigars and related. I buy 75% of my gars right here. There is no problem with quality.

The quality of CBid cigars are great. What did you buy? Since they have 100's of brands you could have been buying Dog Rockets.

Try posting the brands and we'll tell you what we think.

I've tried the following on your list, and I thought they were quality smokes:

CAO L'Anniversaire
Sherpa (need time in humidor)
Puros Indios (great gar for the price IMO)
Punch

I've had most of the others, and some are decent, some are dog rockets (ie Thomas Hinds).

The important thing to remember is you have to decide what you like for yourself. However, there are some smokes that ALMOST everyone praises:

CAO
AF Hemmingway or Don Carlos
Padron

Also, don't let others tell you what is good and what isn't. If you like them, then it doesn't matter what they think. In fact, it's better when you like the cheaper stuff because it won't break your bank account.

I am staying with the cheaper ones because I really can't tell good from bad...I have been given very expensive smokes only to have them leave a real harsh taste in my mouth....

I had a couple foreign gars that were so strong I though I was going to blow chunks..Thanks for the info guys..

X is so right about moochers. Smoke them if you got them. I can tell you that you have many cigars that I have enjoyed in the past. But everyone has different tastes. On your list, I definately like the CAO, Punch, Cu-Avana, Don Kiki, and Puros Indios.

I am reminded of the cajun cook Justin Wilson's retort when asked what kind of wine should one drink with chicken, or with beef, or with seafood, etc. Justin Wilson's reply: "Whatever kind of wine you like!"

Moral to the story: Don't listen to some ingrate (sp?) spouting off about what's good and what's not good after you have gifted him/her a smoke.

Smoke what you like. We have all purchased cigars that were not to our liking. If you are thinking of buying a new brand or vitola, post on the board and ask for opinions. Just remember that likes and dislikes are subjective. Plus, by posting here, you never know, some generous brother/sister may gift you one or two to try out.

I started smoking cigars about two years ago. When I began, I loved mild ole Macanudos (Duke of Windsor, Hyde Park, etc.) As I smoked more, my taste became more refined. I found that Macanudos (and other milder smokes) were very one dimensional. I began to smoke CAO Gold then CAO Black, then CAO L'Anniversaire, then Ashton VSG. As you refine your own tastes, you may find that you are always satisfied by a good quality mild smoke, like the Professor Sila you liked... or you may discover that a little more punch will suit your fancy. Smoke what you like and to heck with everyone else's opinion.

i would stay away fom the flavored cigars and read a few posts from cigars and related. but try buying 5 packs and find out what you like before buying bundles or boxes. there are a lot of very good smokes here but they usualy go for more than $3.00 each most of all do your reasearch check out prices on cigarsinternational the sister site of cibid

What Billy said that MT said. The diablos you listed are a pretty good smoke, especially at cbid prices. Rest em a bit.

If you paid $20.00 for a cigar you didn't like, were you ripped off? If you paid $3.00 for one that you liked, was that a deal? It all comes down to your tastebuds.

You definitely got a few dog rockets in the selection. I would suggest reading the forums and see what some of the old guys are saying about the cigars. Can't go wrong with listening to experience.
