True, however there is considerable difference between critical comments and making up total BS. What some people have said about GWB would likely cause Teddy to judiciously apply his "Big Stick" about their head and shoulders.

As a distant observer who rarely comments on political diatribe, it is apparent to me that your opinions of Geroge Bush are laden with pure venom. They have nothing to do with criticism and everything to do with not only a hatred of the man but of anyone who supports the man.

Your close mindedness is only exceeded by your hatred of anything that appears to threaten your liberal viewpoints.

TR was one of the best. He didn't just talk the talk, he could walk the walk. And, he was not afraid to use that big stick. Hey CW, remember the "Great White Fleet?" The problem now is that people are too young to remember what it was like during the two World Wars. To them, it seemed like the end of the world as they knew it. Now, it seems that all policies are carried out on the results of polls. Research your needs and goals. Plan out how to achieve them. Have a Plan B, AND C. Then just let the military do their job-kill people and break things. Not everyone will be happy, but that's the beauty of this country.

No triumph of peace is quite so great as the supreme triumph of war

Sorry 65gtoman, but I do disagree with you in the triumph of of peace versus the triumph of war statement. I am a great proponent of "let's give peace a chance"... but, when we've bent over backwards for ten years to give a country a chance to adhere to U. N. mandated inspections and the like... it's just plain time to protect ourselves from the potential problems that particular country can cause.

I'm an American and I don't remember ever swearing allegiance to any U. N., so I have no problem with unilateral action when necessary. Having said that, I would prefer for the majority of the world to see it our way. Ironically, despite what most people against the war on Iraq think, much of the world was with us in our actions.

I think the world needs more flowers. You see they cant grow in the dry sand.

GTO- I have to take exception to what you said about any triumph of peace not being equal to the triumph of war. Are you in the military? I am! Active duty U.S. Navy. I was in the Red Sea and The Persian Gulf last spring, and let me begin by saying I'm proud to fight for my country, and will go in whatever harms way I must to protect her. But war is ALWAYS an UGLY business. My father who was in WWII said so, my cousin who was in Vietnam siad so, and I say so. War is robbery writ large, and we have taken it upon ourselves to help defend not only ourselves, but those who are unable to defend themselves against the bully in the sandbox. I have no problem with that, but a peaceful alternative is almost always preferable to war (I said ALMOST, I'm no Neville Chamberlain) Let's not get to thinking that war is something to glorify in it's own right, glorify the cause, glorify the participants, for the cause is WHY those that participate cannot turn aside from the ugliness. Okay, I'll get off the soapbox now 🙂

But I stand by what I said, and as the quote comes from one of my favorite Presidents, it only shows that nobody's perfect. He got his Nobel Prize for ending the Russo-Japanese War with the THREAT of the Great Whit Fleet, not the actual use of the force it represented.
