Okay, time to start our next Nascar Pool. Next race is Sunday, 3/14 at Atlanta. This is a casual, weekly event, and anyone is invited to participate during any given week. We're just getting started, so we may tweak the rules from week to week. Heres what we've got going right now:
-To sign up, just e-mail me at rev440 at rochester dot rr dot com
-You have until 8:00 EST Thursday 3/11 to sign up.
-Instead of picking drivers, we will be assigned numbers between 1-42. These numbers will be randomly drawn, and will correspond to a qualifying position.
-Whichever driver qualifies in your particular position, is the driver you have for the race.
-The top finishing driver of all participants will be the winner. If all drivers are not assigned, your driver may not actually have to win the race to be the winner of the pool.
-The winner will receive a small cigar bomb from all the other players. This is casual and fun, so we don't want to go overboard. 3-5 decent 'gars, or 1-2 super premiums should be sufficient. Just remember to send cigars which you yourself would like to receive.
-As an additional bonus, players can also send a dog-rocket bomb to the last place finishing player. Not necessary, but a good way to dispose of unwanted cigars.
-If qualifying is rained out, Nascar assigns qualifying order based on points. This will be the same lineup we will use for our assignments.
-If your driver qualifies in one position, but is required to start at the back of the field (usually due to an engine change, or using a backup car), that is still your driver based on the original qualifying position.
-Liz will handle the number drawing on Thursday nights. To compensate her, she will automatically receive the 43rd position, and she isn't required to bomb the winner.
-After she draws, I'll post the assigned numbers Thursday night.
-After Friday qualifying, I'll post the players and their drivers.
-Because there are 42 drivers, we may not have enough players to hand out every driver. Depending on the players, we will actually assign more than one driver. For instance, if we have 10 players, we'll each get 4 drivers (10x4).
-I'll post the results after the race.
-The winner (and the last place, dog rocket "winner") should email me with their snailer. I'll send an email to the players with the winner's address.
-Each week is a new pool, and you choose to join in at any time. There are no "points" or running totals.
-If a player "disappears" without sending out a package to the winner (or at least contacting them), they won't be able to play again until they even up, or receive a spanking from e-chick.
That's about it. Remember, you have to email me to sign up. rev440 at rochester dot rr dot com
Any questions or suggestions, feel free to let me know.
Thanks and good luck,
Paul (Seth Gekko)
