Hi Newbie here. I just got my first Humidor and a block of 25 cigars. Each cigar is individually wrapped is a plastic wrapper. Should I leave these on or remove them when I put them in my Humidor? Thanks in advance!

I thought it was jehoover, not ejhoover....oh, and what's a 'block' of cigars? guess I'm a newbie too... (btw, 50% of my cigars have no cello on them, 25% have cello on them but I clipped the ends of the cello and 25% have full cello on - and so the debate lives on!!!)

What gauge cello? Thickness matters.

Welcome Hoover!

Please forgive these guys, they've forgotten what it is like to be new somewhere. This question gets asked a lot, expecially when someone is new. Stick around for a while and you will see. As mentioned above, read the Newbie post and don't be afraid to use the search function on the site... after that, enjoy the ride with some good smokes!

We're just playin' with you, ejhoover. The question of cello on or off gets asked, uh, fairly often. Do a search on your question and you'll probably find that (more than once) it has been answered by some pretty smart cigar guys.

You'll also find that there are as many opinions on most subjects as there are responders to the question. Find what works for you.

Finally, buy lots of 5-packs at first. Learn what you like, then start gathering up the boxes. And build a coolerdore (trust me - lots of search answers on that one in this forum).

Welcome!

Cigars are meant to be naked. Tabacco doesn't grow in the fields with cello on it.

You will never see pretty plume/bloom on your cigars if you are using cellow.

welcome aboard... don't let this old moaners bring you down...

RussellKaufmann --- I beg to differ ... I have many cigars that have bloom/plume on them, and they are in cello ...

... they also protect delicate wrappers, especially if you carry them around or ship them in trades ... and the cello is permeable, so they get plenty of humidity.

I use to take them off ... but I rarely do anymore ... as it just doesn't make that much of a difference.

Well........actually I'd recommend the cello off as it allows your cigars to "marry"............On the other hand, cello on prevents your cigars from "tattering" if you handle them too much...........Alternatively, cello off provides for a much more visually pleasing appearance..........However, cello on makes the cigars much more portable, without as much chance for damage...........No, wait!..............cello off may accelerate the aging process.............No, wait!.........cello on may prevent the permeation of flavor from other cigars................Oh God! Scratch that..............cello off........

PLEASE GOD!!!!..........I CAN'T TAKE IT ANY MORE!!!!............

Sorry ejhoover........I got carried away. Welcome to the boards and enjoy the ride. Lots of experience here and folks are very friendly..........
