This little guy is about 13 weeks old and we're in the process of doing a little "socialization" with him so he can find a nice home. He's a slow seller at over $2,000.00 so we brought him home for a couple of weeks so he gets handled and socialized into a human flock.

indeed a fine choice for a bird. price is about right because breeders do keep the breeding low to keep the price high.

we have had gamine our rossie, or gala for ten years and of all the birds i have ever had, she is closest to having a dog. she wants attention, whe wants to cuddle, she is truly a human's bird. i have never seen or heard of one that is not affectionate.

i will be happy to send you some pix of our rossy if you'ld like, or repost them here.

rarely do they mimic words. in australia, where they kill them as often as they can, because they are like pigeons there and do much crop damage, a pet can be purchased for $25.00 or less if they are on sale. australia won't export them for reasons known only to them.

rossie's love to be showered, because they use a dust that they grow to keep them waterproof instead of oil from the oil gland that most other parrots have, and the dust will build up. i use a spray bottle and mist her untill she opens her wings which tells me she is ready for a good soak. about a quart of water will get her nice and wet and make her feel good.

expect the best from your little friend and you will get the rewards only a rossie can give.

I don't really want to keep birds as pets, I prefer to look at them from afar, but that is one gorgeous animal.

At last something in common besides cigars. My wife and I have an Umbrella Cockatoo (Jolly-mon), a Goffin Cockatoo (Hiny-white), a Sun Conure (Newt), a Blue-crowned Conure (Noed), and a Red Lory (Knot). They are almost as dear to us as our four (now grown) children. (but not quite). 🙂

My wife used to have pet parrots in Honduras. She wanted one here, until she found out how much they cost. In Honduras, if you put food out, they will fly up to the house.

After spending about a week with my wife and I and our other pet parrots, the little guy became very well socailized and was starting to get attached to us. He went back to the store today hopefully to have a new home today.

Nice to see some other bird owners here. My wife and I raise/breed Quakers (Green and Blue), Alexadrine Parakeets, Senegals, Meyers and Cockatiels. We have a Quaker, Timneh Grey and a Double Yellow Headed Amazon as pets. All together we have 34 birds. It can be demanding sometimes but the rewards are plentiful and someday we might make some money doing it, LOL.

Yea Rick, we were just doing a friend a favor. She owns the bird store that we sell our babies to. She has so many to hand feed that she doesn't get to spend much one on one time with them. So when they get about the weaning stage, they really need to become flock members. We took him into our house and became his flock for a while. He is much better acclimated now to becoming a member of his new human flock.

She almost pays me just to come spend time with the baby birds. I get along with almost all of them and have only bled in front of a customer once, LOL.

i don't know what a flight suit is. all my birds have had their flights clipped so they cannont fly.

I have a pink-breasted bedthrasher that is quite affectionate. Mine talks. A lot.

any of you guys have problems with your bird pulling feathers? mine seems to have phases....its almost as if the bird is in heat at the time...but not once a month, like every 6mnth
