got up this morning, early for me, at sunrise. in calif the sun doesn't really rise, the sky just gets
brighter. went outside with a thermos of espresso, the latest robert parker book, sheba my poodle, and a
cohiba lancero from an isom. we watched the hummingbirds flit from feeder to feeder to the fountain to dance in the water drops. counted about 8 or ten sitting on the wires preening and at least that many drinking sugar water and chasing each other away as though the feeders were their own personal property. morning breeze with the warmth of the day just starting. completely at peace. my old air force buddy once told me we are nothing more than a
mass of protoplasm capable of feeling.
this protoplasm felt content.

....and there are those that think we're nuts for being morning persons! This kind of experience will bring out the morning person in just about anyone. Here's to many more!

I awake to a Real sunrise, grab my Boston Globe "news" paper, go directly to the throne and take my morning constitution. Not glamorous, but the Liberal banter that exudes on the Editorial Page keeps me regular. And I don't have to worry about running out of paper...

Rick, those hummingbirds must have headlights because it is just now getting light in Costa Mesa, but it sounds pretty darn nice anyway! I will wait until later this morning and have a La Luna LHB with some coffee! What a great cigar! Oh, we have a lot of hummingbirds in our yard from time to time and they are fun to watch as they move from plant to plant! Charlie

Joe, your use of the Boston Rag and my use of the LA Times are one and the same.....sorry to be political, Rick, but I am smoking my LaLuna LHB with some extra strong black coffee! Charlie

Oh to awake to the dampened morning air moisten by 95%humidity on a fine 95 degree day. I step out onto the field of crunching grasses that used to be my lawn only to be greeted by the welcoming smush of the neighbors dogs offerings. I gracefully spill my coffee effortlessly onto my legs as a peer down to view my morning findings gracefully scalding 2/3rds of my right leg. My welcoming response is to artfully launch a cat about 20 yards with my non scalded leg watching appreciativly as the cat goes from my view. I then draw fourth my plugged cigar that always seems to find me and curse it feverishly as I collapse in a dizzy from trying to draw some sort of smoke from it. All the while pearls of persperation cascade down my face and neck making this mornings shower for nothing. Then from the doorway comes the mother of my child to greet me by saying "You stupid ****! get off the damn lawn before you kill the grass! Freakin idiot!" This my friends is a good morning to you.

Sounds like something out of a Chevy Chase movie... lol! I was greatly dissappointed as I rushed out the door, late for a meeting and still having to drop my son off at daycare to find that my wife had taken the car along with my travel humidor... leaving me a note that she thought the truck needed an oil change! The coffee just wasn't the same without my CAO Napoleon (Box pressed perfecto, Slim)lol.

"Smoke a Leyenda and come back to this world"?? More like, smoke a Leyenda and leave this world for good. I wouldn't use that dog rocket to ward off mosquitoes. 🙂 My morning? Hide from the sun, water my brown lawn in hopes of it turning green some day, while the wind feels like a freakin' blowdryer on my skin. Then I go to work whilst the sun beats down on me, maybe I shouldn't have put the top down today... At least my coffee stayed hot, although I distinctly remember ordering iced coffee... It was so hot today that I have a migraine. I think Mr. Mean and I live in the same area... Glad you guys had a great morning. 🙂

Mr. Mean...you think you have it tough. I get up at 2 am., half hour before I go to sleep and have to sneak out side and light my Philly blunt butt that I found in the gutter by rubbing two sticks together in the 101 degree air and 95 percent humidity while standing barefoot on dead rose bushes and ducking the swarm of hornets that took a home under my eves.....

Bud, you are talking my language. My last cigar I had to make from coffee grounds, pine needles from the neigbors tree, and the coupon section of the tribune.

How I wish I had one of those, you're lucky! My last cigar I rolled was made of an old sneaker tongue, egg shells, carpet dander and dried crickets...LOL!
