OK, so I'm browsing through a catalog today and I come across nasal snuff. Not being a snuff fan, I gotta admit this is the firt time I've ever seen snuff that you stick up your nose. Apparently it has been around a long long time and is popular in European countries. Maybe I need to get out more.

Anyone ever try nasal snuff before???

Yes, I've tried it. I suspect that it's an acquired taste, because it felt like someone had punched me in the nose then squirted acid up my nostrils. Too steep of a learning curve for me.

That's the same stuff Napolean used, right?

I used to be fond of the Columbian & Peruvian versions.

Used it in highschool, cuz it was harder to get caught. I still have some I bought a few years ago. I always kinda liked it but it does make you sneeze.

It was popular in Europe a long time ago. I think yer right about Napoleans use. Didn't the men used to wear pinkey rings with hidden compartments to hold the snuff. I've always wondered about that stuff. I always see it on the store shelves but I've never seen anyone buy it or use it. Personally I don't see myself trying it. I'm surprised that someone came up with the idea to grind up tobacco and sniff it into the lungs and nasal passages. It just sounds odd to me. But to each his own.

I tried it with a friend in grade school.

Don't recall the results but I won't forget the smell.

I just did a 'Google' search for "Nasal Snuff' ...

... and found several places in the US that sell the stuff, one in Arkansas even!

It shouldn't be THAT hard to get.

I gave it a try 20 something years ago. It wasn't bad if you get used to it. But it can make your eyes water. It was a fad that didn't last long for me.

I think the stuff the people had in their pinkie rings years ago, was actually opium or cocaine.

They got this stuff in the latest version of the T-Catalog. Just go to the Thompsons website!

i just got a box of camphor menthol yesterday, thanks for y'all's inputs.

man i'll say one thing, that is some strong stuff, I think I put in too much, but I was half expecting to be bleeding afterwards. although it was a good buzz and good for instant gratification.

I tried 4 samples at the shop, wild mint, camphor menthol, mint and jasmine.

word to the wise, don't try the flavored (jasmine, crushed orange, etc), they are just plain nasty.

problem with searching online is that when it comes to local shops, some of them no longer carry it and other shops are closed and the distributor's website haven't been updated to reflect this fact. I also didn't want to order 10+ tins at a time until I was sure I liked it. I found this little shop (the tinder box on wilshire in santa monica for you locals)

conclusion: that little box I bought is enough for a lifetime for me cause I don't plan on doing this but once a year at the most. I'll stick with cigars.

still, my jade (genuine, it's a heirloom)snuff bottle now has some snuff to go with it!

Very interesting. I bet it does give you quite a buzz.

If you have a digital camera, post a pic of the jade snuff bottle. I'm curious to see what it looks like.
