I estimate the pace will be about 3 stops every 2 weeks. That would put you out about 10 weeks (mid-March) or so.

The one detail that I'm not entirely comfortable with yet is how the list becomes self-maintaining. I have some pass participants emailing me with their addys and saying just put an address list in the box. I have Eric asking me to be put on the list. Even my co-conspirator (myash07) seemed to think that when the box gets back to me that would end the box pass.

This is supposed to be a Perpetual Box-Pass. The inspiration comes from an old Ripley's cartoon about the ever-marching Chinese. If you put the entire Chinese population 4 abreast and march them past a given point, they would never stop marching. The daily birth rate in China (in the '50s) exceeded the number of people that would march past a given point in a day. The analogy is that the Cbid list of participants could grow at the same rate (or faster) than the box can be passed, hence perpetual.

But if I fall off the earth today, it should not hinder the box pass at all. I am not the host, I do not add people to the list, I do not approve trades. When and where and how this thing ends is anybody's guess.

So merely as another participant, I have recruited my "down-line", Eric. Eric will approve the next in line (whoever that may be), and so on ad infinitum.

That's the best I can come up with when it comes to maintaining the list. Comments or suggestions are welcome.

I think I am begining to understand. The concept is good, the explanation is a tad overworded.

2.each reciever of the box is responsible for sending to the next person from the board, in the order they appear

so the next person to ask to join will be my responsibility, and so on.

Sorry, I noticed that Drnos is the space before me, not at the top of the list. Everything else looks like I have the right idea.

Sorry if this question sounds stupid. This doesn't sound complicated and I don't want to make it that way, but I have never done a box-pass before. On this one, you only get the box once....correct? It never goes back to the person at the top of the list, just keeps going to the ones added on. If I'm wrong on this, please enlighten me.

I think he would like the box back at some time, but not to end the pass. If/when he gets the box back, it would be to put/take and send it on.

The theory is that the pass will never end. There is no host bag, there is no pass order, there is no end, (theoretically.) As long as someone wants to receive the box, the pass will continue.

Sounds like a good pass.

Just a thought on how to maintain the mailing list: stop taking addys now and let it turn into a PIF or PIB type of pass. Once someone gets it he/she posts something like "who wants the perpetual box." First to reply, gets it and the folks exchange emails, addys, DC#... The thread can be updated and the rules posted perodically as needed.
