I agree with that one Dan...

I know when there was talk about putting a disneyworld/land in Virginia a few years back and desicrating the sacred ground of battlefields from the civil war.. it came down to a point blank town hall meeting with the words... the first SOB who plants a dozer blade on these grounds will be Blown off that dozer... laws or no laws I think the same rules would apply here!!!!

You are a bunch of sorry folks on this thread. I've said it before, and I'll say it again.....please learn to think for yourselves and stop the conformity of saying, "me too" "me too" "me too" and so on. One person slams the ACLU, and the rest of you brainwashed robots follow suit with enough slander and hatred to feed a nation of supremacists.

Hog, I'm afraid your post is false. You posted a photo and chain email letter that are false. Something that's been around for 3 years that attempts to discredit the ACLU, and get weirdos like the ones that answered your thread in an uproar. You literally posted the letter along with the photo....at least you could have written your own thread to go with the photo instead of copying and pasting the words of others.

This chain letter has changed a good bit since it first surfaced in 2002. In its current form, it appears to be warning conscientious Christians that the ACLU is out to remove crosses from government cemeteries. This is not true, nor was it probably the intent of the chain's original author.

The ACLU frequently draws criticism from Christian interests because it advocates for absolutely no government-sanctioned religion. It is the ACLU that backed lawsuits regarding the phrase "Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance and the propriety of the Ten Commandments in an Alabama Courthouse. What rankles most, is the insistance that the First Amendment guarantee of free religion includes the choice to follow no religion, thus any tolerance by the government of any one religion is seen as a violation.

In its original form, the letter above was a patrioticly charged and good-hearted jab at the ACLU. As it has circulated, the irony it originally played up has slid away as many forwarders take the message literally and assume the ACLU really is going after crosses in military cemeteries. In a statement, the ACLU denies such actions:

"The ACLU is not pursuing, nor has it ever pursued, the removal of religious symbols from personal gravestones. Personal gravestones are the choice of the family members, not the choice of the government. The ACLU celebrates this freedom to choose the religious symbol of your choice."

Some versions have identified the cemetery in the picture as Arlington National Cemetery and went as far as to assert that the ACLU was, indeed, going after that revered institution. It is not. In fact, the picture depicts a cemetery in Europe.

Please folks, don't believe everything you see on tv....not even MTV. Get a free and open mind, and use the brains that God gave you to think for yourselves. When you see something that you don't like, research it and find out the facts before you put up hate into your hearts.

Now....go ahead and flame me. I deserve it. After all, I took away your reason for being fascists.

Adroomi,

I beg to differ... I did not do a google search but yet just a Yahoo inquiry in "Cross Removal ACLU" words in the searchbar...

http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=Cross+Removal+ACLU&sm=Yahoo%21+Search&fr=FP-tab-web-t&toggle=1&ei=UTF-8

Results 1 - 10 of about 43,100 for cross removal aclu

So you say in above post the ACLU is a Compassionate
group meaning no harm no foul? I'll stick to the Vigulance of what my Founding Fathers Christened this land with!!! otherwise we will all wake up someday to no rights to anything like in Nazi Germany Pre WWII!!!

9th Circuit Court Rules War Memorial Crosses Unconstitutional
http://www.reclaimamerica.org/PAGES/NEWS/newspageprint.asp?story=1800

False story in what aspect??

The case, initially brought by the ACLU, was filed on behalf of one retired National Park Service employee who claimed to be offended by the war memorial. Though the cross rests atop a hill nearly 10 miles south of the nearest interstate, the man claimed to be "offended" by the cross.

"We all declare for liberty; but in using the same word we do not all mean the same thing. With some the word liberty may mean for each man to do as he pleases with himself, and the product of his labor; while with others, the same word many mean for some men to do as they please with other men, and the product of other men's labor. Here are two, not only different, but incompatible things, called by the same name - liberty. And it follows that each of the things is, by the respective parties, called by two different and incompatible names - liberty and tyranny."
The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln
http://home.att.net/~rjnorton/Lincoln78.html

"At what point shall we expect the approach of danger? By what means shall we fortify against it? Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant, to step the Ocean, and crush us at a blow? Never! All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Buonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years. At what point, then, is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.

adroomi,

You wrote,
"" Get a free and open mind, and use the brains that God gave you to think for yourselves. When you see something that you don't like, research it and find out the facts before you put up hate into your hearts.""

I do have a free mind, and think for myself. I don't need to do any research to put hate in my heart. Based on my experiences in life. I've come to a conclusion. I already hate any person or organization that say or do certain things, the things that set me off.

Name that person or organization what you will.

Based on your post the ACLU is not at fault in this case. Given the light you've shed on this topic into consideration. I withdraw the statement I posted earlier.

However, I will post this staement: The ACLU are a bunch of punk ass bitches !

Why you may ask. Because they set me off when they decided to give themselves that name.

I forgot to point out... those in the picture Above are in fact War Memorial Crosses on Federal Land... and Thus it is how much of a matter of time for the ACLU and their Agenda Wagon to if not already taken aim at their removal?

Speaking of taking things out of context and not researching them, wasn't the original intent of "freedom of Religion", to protect the churches from the states??? Not to protect the states from the churches!! I'm sure I learned that in high school American history.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!
It has been a loooooooooong time since I was a Junior
in high school!!
Besides my old man was a hard headed, opinionated, German, and his opinion was the ACLU were a bunch of commies!!! That was his unresearched opinion!
You know the older I get, the more I realize the old mans opinions were right on the money!!
Who was it Mark Twain who said...It's amazing how smart my father got when I turned 21!!
Just MHO...nothing more...nothing less!

I see each 6x3 foot rectangle as private property, fully paid for, and so the "Federal Property" term doesn't apply.

The people that head the ACLU would like nothing more than to have every cross removed from the face of the earth. They hate it because the god they serve hates it. Talk about robots, they don't even know they are robots serving the god of this world.

I'm so glad that there are a few here that can enlighten us to what truth is. The fact is we battle against practicalities and principals we don't see. This world will pass, it is not permanent reality. True reality we don't see, there is a another battle going on. A bigger picture a " fairytale" that's real.

Chose this day what god, God you will serve.

Hup,
I believe you are correct.

What about this :
You can talk about buddha, ghondi, confuseus, and just about any other religious leader in school.
However to mention God, Prayer, or the Bible is unacceptable.

Our founding fathers wrote one nation under God.

Our money says " in God we trust "

We are requested to pray in rememberance of, for the safe return of or the protection of.

In court you'd put your had on the BiBle to be sworn in.

Hmmmm, I don't know but it seems strange to me.

Not to just stand up for the ACLU but here is a quote from their web site
""The ACLU is committed to the rights of individuals to practice their religions, whether they do so on federal land, in their own back yard, or in a house of worship. Religious freedom is upheld when individual practices are protected, and violated when the government attempts to endorse a particular practice."
Just my .02 worth.
