this should be kinda fun. i figured i'd choose a topic/theme that i have first hand knowledge of.

1. In the song "Sweet Home Alabama", Skynyrd refers to the "Swampers". What or Who are they singing about?
be specific, ie.. band/people

2. What was the name of the country group "Shenandoah" before they signed a recording deal and became "Shenandoah"?
they weren't always shenandoah, yano?

3. Who was the "Father of the Blues" and where was he born (city/state)?

4. What song did singer/songwriter Gary Baker co-write that went to #1 on the country and R&B charts and was Billboards #1 country song of the year in 1994?

5. What recording studio did Percy Sledge record "When A Man Loves A Woman" in?

6. What decade(s) was Muscle Shoals, Alabama considered as the "Hit Recording Capital of the World"?

7. Julian Lennon wrote the Lyrics to "Vallotte" while on visit to what recording studio and on the banks of what river?

8.BONUS for an ISOM (my only ISOM mind you)...I started working in recording engineering at the tender age of 13 (dad co-owned the studio), who was the first Duo that I did some engineering for. HINT..think HEE HAW!!!
remember that show?

good luck y'all!

1. " The "Swampers" were studio musicians who were available if backup was needed. Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones gave them this name during a recording session because of the swampy land around the Shoals area. The "Swampers", also known as the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section were Jimmy Johnson (guitar), Roger Hawkins (drums), David Hood (bass), and Barry Beckett (keyboards).

2. Shenandoah were originally called Diamond Rio but their manager didn't like that name and suggested either Shenandoah or The Rhythm Rangers. Columbia (their record label) opted for Shenandoah but this name caused a lot of legal trouble because others had already copyrighted the name. When a new group emerged calling themselves Diamond Rio, Shenandoah did not fight over it even though they retained the rights to the name, choosing instead to sign over the rights freely.

3. W. C. Handy. William Christopher Handy was born on November 16, 1873, in Florence, Alabama.

4. I Swear. With John Michael Montgomery singing the country version and All 4 One singing the R&B version.
