To the right is my Colibri Grip, which I absolutely loved until the rivets started falling out.

So, I went back to my Xikar. Today it feel about 2' from my side table to my concrete porch, with these results.

Guess it's back to my cheap guillotine.2745960.jpg

Accidentally ran my Colibri grip through the dryer and the thing practically dissolved. Those rivets must be made of pewter or solder or something.

i have 4 xikars. when they stop working perfectly, i send them to the company and they replace and/or fix them at no charge, you can also buy a scissors for about ten bucks. they work fine.

#2 LOL. I got that.

#1 Stop feeling it. If you abuse it, it will go blind. Or something.

BTW, dropping the same cutter as yours on the left (albeit without feeling it first), also from about 2". Got the same result. I think we can safely conclude they don't survive a 2' fall. Or fail.

If you're goint to Cigarfest this weekend bring the Xikar along and show it to the rep there. Last year my buddy got his cutter replaced right there because it was sticking.

The cutter I have has a back-up plate with a hole in the middle for torps. I love this cutter I think it is just as good if not better than a palio... also way cheaper.

You know a Moil should take much better care of his tools.

#11........please share.

I have a xikar cutter. It works pretty good but not nearly as good as my Palio or any of the Wenger SAKs I have.

Since I DO own the xikar, I will continue to send it back when it breaks........but I'll never claim it is my favorite cutter.....or even a "good" cutter because of the fact that it IS prone to breakage.

re 12:

I think the role is called a Moyel

Funny story - about a year ago, I was travelling a few hours with some buddies in the car. One of them had just given me a scissor cutter.

It got us to talking and we were pondering that the ceremony is called a Bris, and the man who performs it is called a Moyel. But what do they call the knife?

We must have called about 50 Jewish folks that we know over the next 4 or 5 hours, some of them rather devout, and not a single one could answer the question.

A couple of days later, I went online and found a Rabbi who was able to provide the following:

**************************************

the hebrew term is izemel. (pronounced: eezemell) Today many mohelim use a surgical scalpel.

*****************************************

Needless to say, the scissors I was gifted are now called Izemel.

Damn, I know I corrected that "feel" to "fell" before I posted. WTF?

Anyhow, we're all probably getting another Colibri this Saturday, and I'll take the Xikar along as suggested.

Oh, and as soon as I dropped the Xikar, I grabbed a anodized aluminum cutter at auction for $8. Looks like a copy of the Xikar Ultra Slim.
