This is posted for diecinque and glongoria who made a request.

Coolers are cheapo Igloos, available at Walmart for $18 and under. Wash them out with baking soda, let them dry in the sun, and then hot glue old cigar box tops to the sides (for your cedar lining).

Bins are also from Walmart and cost 50 cents each ($6 total). You will need 12 of the 6-1/2" x 10-1/2" size.

Next you need 12 21" lengths of 1/2" x 1" hardwood. I think 6 48" pieces cost me around $8. Using either low profile truss screws or hot glue, attach 3 bins side by side to 2 lengths of hardwood.

Now attach felt furniture pads to the top of the bins in line with the wood strips. This increases capacity to 3 sticks high per bin, and allows the wood rails from the bin above to rest on the pads, and not on your sticks.

Lastly, add a digital hygrometer and beads.

With hygrometer, you're around $40 - $45 per cooler. Each bin will hold 21 churchills long ways. You can fit 36 Robs up to 5-1/2" long width wise, or 40+ Coronas. You can also mix sticks going in each direction for maximum storage. Right now I have around 350 to 400 sticks per cooler. I plan on making dividers for the bins to further increase capacity.

Of course you can use this system in larger coolers too. Just grab a pack of the bins from housewares before heading over to the coolers. That way, you can try the bins out to make sure they'll work in the cooler you want.

Way too over the top for me.

My method:

1) Buy Rubbermaid brand cooler (hard refrigerator plastic lined, little to no odor from the start)
2) Wash it out & dry it.
3) Dump cigars boxes in. Place loose cigars in older boxes.
4) Add one 4oz jar of humi-care gel
5) close lid and go open a beer.

Or... just forego all that work, clean out the cooler, get a hygro and some beads, and put BOXES of cigars in there!

DP, how many of these coolers do you have?

I tried the cooler thing one time. I came home and my beer was preparing for a frontal assault to take back their coolers.

I bought a cabinet humi and solved the problem.

Man...my OCD salutes you...but that is just too friggin' much work right there. BTW, tubs at Wally's only run about $4. Then again, perhaps y'all need to worry about heat more than I do.

I'd love to be that organized. Drives me nuts when I want a specific cigar and don't know where one might be. However, I just don't have the time to be this anal.

Dude, niiiiice setup.

I, however, find TG's method very similar to my own.

Thanks all, but personally I think these are a mess in desperate need of re-orginization. Now I understand how some of you "find" a stick or two you forgot you had. I know what I have and where it is, but that’s just the way I am.

Nixon,
Right now I have 3 coolers, 1 - 250 count desktop and 1 - 120 count desktop. Trying to figure out how to set up #4 without the wife freaking out.

Huntero,
And what, another $50 to crate and ship it? Though I used screws, you can do one in under a half hour with a hot glue gun.
