In philadelphia we have a african american mayor, fire commissioner, head of city council, and now police commissioner. Last night while addressing the naacp our illustious mayor said: "brothers and sisters we now run the city of philadelphia",not to much was made of his statement. If a caucasian mayor had made a statement of the same nature the naacp would have reverends al shrimpton and jessie (the fornicator) jackson down here yelling for impeachment. JonR

I understand that since this Mayor has been in office Philly is no longer the fattest city in the nation. He personally takes credit for this. Good to see he has his priorities straight(sarcasm)! A side note: I have said many times that if I lived in Philly, I would have a cheesesteak every week. And I would savor each and every one!

Charlie used it correctly, but since this is typed and not spoken, he realized the irony of the words themselves. And he purposely left the phrase intact. Racist? Lighten up!

Rick, what if the mayor in question was evil and I commented that he had a "dark side". Would that be racist? Will this questionable quote give him a "black eye" in the next election?
