Slim.. She is beautiful. I had a Manx while i was growing up. She was all grey. My mom got her for me on my first day of Kindergarten and she lived for 23 years. I think she stayed alive and healthy just to spite my dad. I was always amazed at how good of a hunter she was. I remember when she brought home this Huge a** Fox Squirel. She was always bringing rabbits that were as big as her up on the porch.
Believe it or not.. Smoke actually missed the Guinness world record by 2 or three years. We got her in 76 and she died the year I got divorced in 99. Pretty amazing.

I'm really attached to this cat, and she just adores me. Manx are funny cats ... very 'one person' critters. She's alwasy by my side.

She likes other people though, but she follows me around everywere I go, and obeys commands just like a dog ... just like she understands. I can tell her 'no' when I'm eating (when I get tired of her tapping on my leg with her paw), and she will just walk away, and if I tell her to go lie down in a normal voice ... she will do it. When I tickle her with my fingers, she even leans over and and 'flea bites' my thumb, almost like she's suckling.

She's the only cat that I've ever had, that I can hold a conversation with. I'll say something to her, and she will talk back. This will go on until I stop. I have no idea what she is saying, but people sure get a kick out of it.

Nothing bothers her, and she doesn't back down from dogs either. She's extremely mellow. She will put up with them nosing around her, until she gets annoyed ... then she will just swat their nose, and send them scampering off. At 20 lbs., I guess she feels she's pretty tough ... LOL!

I had a pretty white kitty for 15 years. She has been gone 2 now. I can still imagine her jumping off the headboard on the bed where Tank was asleep. She was something else. Not too many cats live thru jumping on their owners broken foot. Tank had a cast put on the next day. Just in case. Liver cancer in the end.

Poor kitty.

She is waiting for us at the pearly gates so she can headbutt Tank for attention.

Nice picture.

Shortly after this picture was taken ... Mandy got very sick, and it happened all so fast.

We took her into the vet, and she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. She stopped eating and drinking water (and throws up a lot) ... and she has trouble walking. Her legs just 'do the splits' when we try to get her to stand up. Her urine is sometimes bloody, and she is having problems deficating.

It doesn't look good for her. My wife is taking her into the vet again today ... and I'm afraid that Mandy isn't coming back.

For an animal, she has been the best friend and companion I have ever had in a cat. I don't know what I'm going to do without her, if the vet decides it's her time to go. She was always by my side, and was great company.

We've developed an extremely close bond over the years ... she is such an attentive and loving cat.

We had to put down two other 'feline family' members over the last couple of years, first Crickett, and then Smokey ... but Mandy, by far ... has been my favorite little sweetheart.

Oh boy ... this is going to be a tough one.

I am so sorry to here this about Mandy.. I've lost some good friends over the years but I also had some that I thought were never going to make it pull through and do great.
I'll say a prayer for Mandy. Keep us posted.

I'm very sorry about Mandy, Slim! She's a beautiful kitty. I, too, love cats and have 4 of them. We just lost one a couple of months ago. It's extremely difficult to do what has to be done what that time comes.

Cats are very special creatures and some can be every bit as much of a pal as a dog.

It hurts me to think about losing one.

Didn't you lose another cat a year or two ago? So sorry to hear the news! Mandy is a beautiful animal.

Yes, we lost two ... Crickett in 2004, and Smokey at the beginning of this year. And they say that deaths usually follow in 'threes'.

I just got back from the vet's ... and my worst fears became a reality. The x-rays showed that she had large mishappen kidneys, an extremely thick lining on one side of her stomach, and come down with pneumonia. The doctor said that she had advanced cancer, and there wasn't much we could do for her at that point.

So ... as painful as it was, we had to do the humane thing, and put our last companion to rest. Mandy, because of how close she and I were ... was the hardest.

But it was the right thing to do ... God bless her little soul. She left a big hole in my heart ... and it will be some time before I get over her not constantly being under my heels.

It's really amazing how attached we become to our critters ... such a big part of our lives (she was with us for 15 years), they are just like our children.

Heck ... we didn't have any kids ... do they were our childern.

Sincere condolences, Slim ...

Over the years, we've had a number of dogs and there've been a couple of them whose departure left some pretty big holes in our family's lives ...

That's tough duty, Slim...My sincerest condolences.

Like I said in the previous post, we had to put "Ruby" to rest a couple of months ago. She was a stray kitty that adopted us and lived with us for 15 years. I'll never forget her.

You have my condolences.
I was sorry to hear about Mandy.
I lost two very special cats over the years and understand how you feel.
You gave her a good life and good companionship for 15 years and when it was her time you let her go.
You'll meet again.
