I have a decorum question when it comes to piercings. More specifically, nose piercings.

When a female has a nose ring/stud.

Are you suppose to look at it? Not look at it? Comment on it?

Are they there just to make middle aged guys uncomfortable?

I've ran into an awkward situation twice in the last year- once at work once in a social setting.

What is the proper etiquette?

my Youngest daughter has her nose pierced... I always tease her saying Hey, you got a booger hanging out of your nose... she don't like that at all... last time I spoke to her was when she was raising hell with me siding with her mother... I said Hey are you pregenant? No Why? I said because you look pregenant, either that or your just becoming a fat ass?

she shut the hell up and hid behind her mommy...

If I am forced to participate in a conversation with a noseringer, then I can't help but stare.

When they ask, I say some stupid stuff like, "That's quite a unique personal expression", when I SHOULD just speak my mind and tell them it looks stupid; and don't let me hear you complain about money.....cause you have enough of it to buy jewelry for your NOSE!!!!

If you pierce yourself in such a fashion, it is my firm belief that you are LOOKING for attention. So, whether the attention is bad or good, you're gettin' what ya paid for.

I have no feelings about nose studs. It's the "bull rings" that make me want to pull on them.

8track,

Kari has a little diamond stud in her nose. I noticed it right away when i first met her. Although she was laying by the pool scanlty dressed, i really noticed the little diamond in her nose. I just think its hot for some reason.

Annnyway... if it was me.. and depending on how it is done.. i really wouldnt say a thing. I didnt say anything to kari. To me .. although some may see it as odd..it no different than having a bracelet on or a necklace.

Just another form of decoration.

But if it really fits on that particualr person... as it does in Kari's case... and you DO find it attractive.. then by all means... tell the person "i really like your nose thing".

It all depends on the person that is wearing it. Kari percieves it as pretty.. and would welcome the comment.

Others do it strictly to be odd and they WANT THE ATTENTION... those are the people i would not give the satisfaction of saying anything to. I would just ingonre them like it wasnt even there.

To me.. im like that with everything. If i can tell a person has something on SIMPLY TO BE GAUDY.. OR CAUSE THEY THINK THEIR THE SH*T... I WONT GIVE THEM THE SATISFACTION.

You know the type.. all bling bling ect ect. But i am sure you also know the type of guys and ladies that actually get something nice and they are humble and proud of it... and how good it would make them feel to say.. man.. i really like those shoes, or .. Wow sue..did you get a new necklace?"

Sue would humbly say.. ohh yea..my sister got me that for my birth day...thank you".. and that would be the end of it.

Im sure you get my jist!!

I always ask them if they washed their hands because I know you had to stick your fingers up your nose to attach that thing.

I like nose metal.

The bigger the better.

If I were the exalted emperor of this country, I would mandate that all women wear nose metal with reflectors and be renamed Yashawini (Ashwini for short).

Tax credits would be also granted for the red dot.

I like nose metal.

The bigger the better.

My bride managed a large medical practice when the nose metal trend began. She had to add a paragraph to the personnel manual to ban "nose jewelery" for employees while on the job.

I saw a girl on TV once that had a chain attached to her earring. The chain then went up one nostril and then out her mouth. It then attached to the other earring. I though to myself "WOW nose floss"

She said that she had to snort the chain up her nose and down her throat and then gagged it up through her mouth. Ummmmmm Sexy

I was out with a few of the boys, and something caught my attention. This girl had a nose stud almost the size of a dime (bloody spaniard- you'd have been in heaven).

I guess I was staring (I couldn't believe what I was seeing) because the next thing I heard was the girl saying "What the Fu(% are you looking at?"

Because it was in a bar, and my Social Graces card was checked at the door of the bar, I said (imitating her tone) "That big piece of metal coming out of your nose."

Her response- "Don't be fu(%ing looking at it."

(perplexed)

Ok then, what about Breast Implants? You'd think if the woman was looking for attention, and they were obviously enhanced, you really SHOULD look at them, right?

This girl spends $5,000-$10,000 on them, she MUST want you to look. Correct?

To which you would have had every right to reply, "Then grow up and take that F*$@ing thing out of your nose if you don't want people to look at it, you stooge!" Women do crap like that all the time - wear a T-shirt with writing across the chest and then get offended if you are looking at their breasts, or a low cut shirt same thing. That is one of the reasons that I have few close female friends.

Funny Ruggysgirl. My wife is the same way. My wife left one job because she could hadle dealing with- her words here- a bunch of women.

My employer is 95% female. There are a handful that are great people. The rest, I try not even to know there names, make every interaction as brief as possible and get on with my work. It's harder to hit a moving target.

My boss and boss's boss (both female and great) laugh at the fact that I've been there for 6 years and don't have any clue to the names of 3/4 of my coworkers.
