I'm new here, and still looking at my digital camera manual.... So no PICTURES yet, but I have a question...

I have a few antique "printing blocks" for cuban cigar labels and boxes. Anyone ever seen anything like them? Know what I'm talking about? I have never seen anything like them anywhere. These things are cool! They vary in detail.... Look to be made of brass. Who else can I ask about this?

Are they a simple brass block with the image for the label raised? If so, they were how labels, or anything else, were printed years ago. Don't know what they would be worth but would be kinda cool for a collector.

Not raised at all. Deeply ingraved. Backed with lead or something.... Not steel. Brass face plate.

Second thought.... maybe it is a blend of some kind of steel. Hmmmmm.

These "things" are pretty detailed. Do you think they are embossing stamps? Or Printing stamps?

both my son and my brother know more about printing than i do. i will print this thread and show it to them. i'll get back to you as soon as i can with either of their information or questions. if they are really very valuable, please insure them for thousands and send them to me as a gift.

before i contact them, can you tell me the size of the faceplate, and can you make out any of the details of the picture that is embossed. and any other info about their appearance. [email protected]
