It's not a welcoming gift that newbies are entitled to just for showing up here and posting.

You don't get one for posting a zillion times.

It's not something that's sent out with expectations of getting something in return.

It's not a rite of passage.

Most importantly... IT'S NOT SOMETHING YOU ASK FOR!

Simply put - it's a package that's sent because the sender wanted to do it. That's it... That's all...

Wanna get bombed? Earn the respect of other traders and forum inhabitants. Stick around and contribute to the forum in positive way. Get involved in trades and earn a stellar reputation. This improves your chances, but it still doesn't mean you deserve a bomb in any way. Only someone who wants to bomb you can decide that.

When I did my first trade post, I was well taken care of by two generous brothers (k9kop and havana1). I think the act of trading gives much more meaning to giving and recieving, and the kindness of the B/SOTL on this board than a no strings attached welcome package would. It inspired me to want to get even one day, plus always give a little more because I know it made me feel good to open the packages and be surprised.

I don't engage in trades, and haven't done so in years. Trades set the individual up for failure or disappointment.

I will only send out R.O.A.K (Random Acts of Kindness) ... and only when I feel someone deserves it. Most of the time I will not put a return address on the package ... because I do not want, nor do I expect, anything in return.

I find the greatest pleasure to the whole process ... is bringing joy to some unsuspecting person. That ... to me ... is what makes is all worthwhile.

thank you slim!
that's what i felt.....but i didn't leave my address off! but the though and feeling of good is the same!
here recently when i bombed a few people.

you have different standards and reasons...and i respect that..
but after doing it.....i felt good!
i did not expect anything in return! if it was returned...great, cause i wasn't expecting it either.
i'm going to have to remember to leave off the addy....but the post office said it needed an address to mail it??
what do you do....put a bogus one??

Bomb = RAOK

A difference without a distinction seems to me.

I think E$A nailed it.

You are so right on with your refined definition of what a bomb is and what one isn't. We need to have more respect and fun with them!

put the addy of the person that you want the next R.A.O.K to go to, try to set it up so everyone is happy.

leave a letter or write a little somethin as a clue on the inside of the box that works well.

oh yeah, most of all have fun, play nice and don't expect return fire.

it it better to have loved & lost than to have never loved at all.

peace & let the games begin
