Hey Dr Pepperhill..

A true story about me growing up eating Cream of Wheat.

My mother always fixed my brother and I Cream of Wheat. But one thing mom never did was stir it very much while cooking so it was always lumpy. Mt brother and I didn't know any better and we thought this was the way it was supposed to be.

One day my dad fixes us breakfast and he stirs it so no lumps.. And of course we complained that he fixed it wrong.. Where are the lumps!!

My favorite breakfast...

Coffee and a cigar!!!!

Seriously, if I cook breakfast for myself, I usually make some eggs scrambled with cheese or some kind of omelet, hash browns, sausage and toast. Mmmm mmmm good.

Around here we call that particular breakfast "the widow-maker." Tastes good though.

Oatmeal and Raisin Cookies

1 ½ cup flour

1 ¼ tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

1 cup butter Crisco

¾ cup white sugar

¾ cup brown sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp hot water

2 cups raisins

2 cup quick oats

1 tsp vanilla

1 cup walnuts chopped

Preheat oven to 375. Sift together flour, soda and salt. In separate bowl cream together shortening, both sugars and vanilla. Add 2 eggs one at a time while mixing. Stir in hot water and sifted ingredients. Then stir in oatmeal, raisins, and walnuts. Put in tbsp sized pieces on greased cookie sheet. Do not let them get brown. Light brown around the edge is ok. Bake 10-12 minutes.

I double or triple the recipe:)

Oatmeal will vacuum out the cholesterol better than any pill. I eat bacon or sausage at least twice a week, but I always make sure to chase it with a big bowl of oatmeal. Between that and all the venison I eat, the level of grease in my bloodstream is at the low end of average.
